Diversity Visa Lottery takes Prize for Suckering US Citizens/American Workers

Do all of you know what the Diversity Visa Lottery is? Maybe you know it by its other name—the Green Card Lottery.

The Immigration Act of 1990, signed into law by George H.W. Bush, set up what I will call a monstrosity.
Supposedly we don’t have enough diversity in America and needed to open our welcoming arms to a larger variety of the world’s ethnic populations (and more workers to compete for American jobs)!
Here is what Wikipedia says about it,

The lottery is administered by the Department of State and conducted under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). It makes available 50,000 immigrant visas annually and aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States, by selecting applicants from countries with low numbers of immigrants in the previous five years. As of 2017, around 20 million people apply for the lottery each year.

All efforts to kill the program have failed.
And, what drew my attention to it today (I did write about it from time to time at RRW) is this whiny report about how the recent “winners” couldn’t get on the State Department website earlier this week to find out if they had won a ticket to Anytown, USA.

New Hampshire: ACLU Sues for Answers about Illegal Alien Somali Held in Detention

The Somali man came across our southern border a couple of years ago and asked for asylum claiming he was escaping al-Shabaab (aren’t they all!) , but the government had already determined that he must be deported because he was on that aborted 2017 deportation flight.
See one of my reports here at RRW. I don’t think there was ever a full explanation of what went wrong with that flight to Somalia.
Now he is still in detention in New Hampshire and the ACLU wants answers and wants him released.

Seattle Area Schools Urged to Bless Muslim Students during Ramadan

Ibrahim Hooper calls the complaint a “sign of the growing Islamophobia in our nation.”

And, it may be happening in your neighborhood too, but in the Seattle area at least a few parents and teachers said ‘no way’ to this special treatment for Muslim students, and a legal defense fund is threatening to sue the school district.
CAIR says the complaints are “Islamophobic.”

Virginia: FBI Arrests One of their Translators for Lying about his Relationship with Target of Investigation

FBI logoI’m laughing as I write this because what ever made the FBI think they could trust a translator who is Somali to help surveil a fellow Somali.
But, then again, this is an Obama-era FBI pick. Let’s hope the Trump FBI is wiser and smarter.
The bare bones news about the “Virginia man” is here at the US Justice Department website (hat tip: Cathy), but believe it or not, I see that CNN has excellent coverage in my quick look around at which media outlets were onto the story.

Your Tax Dollars Flowing to Islamist Groups Like the Muslim American Society

If you missed the news about the Philadelphia controversy over the Muslim American Society program that featured young children reading aloud about killing Jews and Christians, here is one recent report about the on-going investigation.

Some branches of the MAS received funding from the US government! These are Philadelphia children at a MAS sponsored event.

In the wake of that shocking performance we learn, thanks to the Middle East Forum (via Creeping Sharia) hat tip: Michael, that the Muslim American Society is one of many Islamist-influenced organizations receiving government grants.
