Extra Scrutiny at US Border with Canada; CAIR has Hissy Fit

Last night I had a look at CAIR’s twitter feed (you should all do that from time to time).  It was very illuminating.  They have been hollering for days about a slowdown in movement across the Washington State/Canada border due to Border Patrol doing a little extra checking of those who might pose harm to America.

By the way, in case CAIR and you have forgotten, the President’s travel ban is still in place and Iran is on the list, so checking Iranians right now is doubly important.

(I’ll have more to say about the travel ban at RRW in light of John Binder’s Breitbart post yesterday about how we are still taking refugees from banned countries.)

Here is one of CAIR’s featured outrage stories by their pals at Vox:

Nearly 200 Iranian Americans were detained at the US-Canada border

In recent days, as many as 200 people of Iranian descent, some of them US citizens, have been detained at the US-Canada border and questioned about their political views, family members, and work histories.

About 60 individuals, including American and Canadian citizens, were held for questioning about their “political views and allegiances” at the Canadian border in Blaine, Washington, on Saturday, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a nonprofit that advocates for the rights of Muslims in the US.

CAIR has been on twitter for ten years and has 51K followers. This tweet has been up for 22 hours with only 6 retweets. Apparently few care what CAIR is saying.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confiscated their passports and held some of them waiting rooms for as long as 10 hours, refusing to grant them entry to the US, according to CAIR.

By Monday, as many as 140 more people of Iranian descent had been detained at the border. They were repeatedly asked about their birthplaces, family members, schooling, and work histories.

But CBP also told Vox it’s operating with an “enhanced posture at its ports of entry to safeguard our national security” based on current threats to the US — which, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), could include an Iran-backed terrorist attack.

CBP agents have broad legal authority to detain and question individuals at ports of entry, but not to conduct interrogations for hours without cause.

[….]

Though Saturday’s detentions appeared to be a reaction to the recent escalation of tensions between the US and Iran, the administration had already made it difficult for Iranians to enter the US under President Donald Trump’s travel ban, which also affects nationals of six other countries deemed to be security threats.

[….]

In a statement, CAIR said that according to one of its sources at CBP, DHS had directed CBP officials to report and detain anyone of Iranian heritage attempting to enter the US if they were found to be “suspicious or adversarial, regardless of citizenship status.”

“These reports are extremely troubling and potentially constitute illegal detentions of United States citizens,” Masih Fouladi, executive director of CAIR’s Washington chapter, said.

Washington’s Democrat Governor Inslee joined CAIR in its criticism. He apparently is fine and dandy with unhindered traffic in and out of his state.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee called CBP’s denial of the detentions “simply not credible.”

“These were detentions, and that is unacceptable,” Inslee said in a statement. “By all accounts, this is detention, regardless of whether the waiting area has bars on the windows.”

More here.

We should all breath a sigh of relief to know that extra scrutiny is happening at our border in light of recent fears that Iranians would exact revenge on us.

Texas: Their Mothers Were Murdered!

Imagine thinking that your elderly mother died of natural causes in a senior living facility where you thought she was safe and well-cared-for only to receive a call two years later from the police telling you she didn’t die peacefully, but was likely murdered by Billy Chemirmir, a man who should have been removed from the US years before!

This is an update on my series of posts about the man I simply call the Kenyan Killer.

And, this is a story the national news is not touching!

Imagine the pain of knowing that this is the last face your dear mother saw on this earth.

As we left off back in July the Kenyan Killer was behind bars in Texas awaiting trial for the murder of the last in a string of murders (more under investigation) that could make him the most prolific serial killer in Texas.

Why did these vulnerable senior women and one elderly gentleman die?  He wanted to steal their valuables, especially their jewelry.

Most were allegedly suffocated to death with a pillow.  He was a clever killer.

Reporter Charles Scudder at The Dallas Morning News has penned a two-part series on the case featuring some of the daughters who today suffer from enormous grief and anger over the deaths of their mothers—many of whom might not have died if the police and medical examiners had been sharp enough to see a pattern that might have emerged if, at least in some cases, the assisted living facilities had not been quick to assume death by natural causes.

The tip-off to some family members that something didn’t add-up was that their mothers’ jewelry was missing—one guardian angel necklace in particular.

The fabulous two-part series is behind a paywall.  It is an important paywall because it funds indepth journalism like this story.  Part 1 is here and Part II here

The two part series is entitled:

Guardians

Nearly two years after her mother died in a Dallas senior living apartment, Shannon Gleason Dion got a shocking call from a Plano
detective.

Her mother had likely been murdered, he told her, by a man who could be among the most prolific serial killers in Texas history.

Here is a bit of how reporter Scudder sets the scene in his opening paragraphs of Part II.  Shannon got that call:

Her 92-year-old mother, Doris Gleason, had died nearly two years earlier at The Tradition-Prestonwood, a luxury senior living facility in Far North Dallas. “Old age,” the death certificate had said.

No one could explain why jewelry was missing from the apartment. No one knew why Doris wasn’t wearing the guardian angel necklace she never took off. But Shannon had done her own sleuthing.

She’d learned that jewelry had been stolen from the apartments of other residents who had died.

Scudder’s story is riveting….

Wanting something good to come out of their suffering, five daughters have launched a new group!

SOSS stands for Secure our Senior’s Safety

And, this is what they say about their initiative:

Some of us are wives. Some of us are mothers and grandmothers. Some of us are sisters.

We were daughters.

Now we are friends. Joined together by a shared tragedy.

We lost our mothers to a knock on a door.

To repeat – a knock on a door. He shouldn’t have been able to walk down their hall and knock on their door.

We thought they were safe. We paid for oversight. We thought they were safe. They were not.

We are daughters who have lost their mothers. We are working so you don’t have to live our tragedy. We don’t want this to happen to another family.

Many of us have been in the situation of having to place a loved one in a care facility, and if you haven’t,  then you may very well be burdened with that decision in the future.

Therefore, if you do nothing else today, visit their website and if you feel moved to do so, donate to help them get their message out widely.

Where is the national news media?

Their story must get out nationally, please send to your social media networks and if you have any contacts with any national news outlet, please send it there too!

For more information either go to The Dallas Morning News (and pay if you can).

Seattle: Vietnamese Legal Immigrant Murdered by Mexican Illegal with Long Criminal Record

This is one more story that you probably haven’t seen if you live outside of the state where the crime occurred.

Why? It doesn’t fit the national media mob’s view of the world.  It is one thing when an illegal alien kills white Americans (ho hum), but heck they sure don’t want to talk about how illegals are killing ‘new American’ people of color.

From local Q13 Fox News (hat tip: Robert):

ICE: Man accused of murdering Seattle father is in US illegally, has long criminal history

Sam Nang Lam, 56, was sleeping on the living room couch when bullets started flying early Nov. 3, killing the father of five.

King County sanctuary policies are directly responsible for the death of Sam Nang Lam

Seattle police said 25-year-old Julio Cruz-Velazquez was arrested in SeaTac on Nov. 7. He was taken into custody after a traffic stop with assistance from Tukwila Police.

Cruz-Velazquez is charged with first-degree murder. Bail was set at $2 million.

According to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Cruz-Velazquez has a significant criminal history dating back as far as 2000. The charges included rape, domestic violence, burglary, DUI, malicious mischief, failure to comply and assault.

ICE officials say sanctuary policies, like in King County, block the agency’s ability to do its job.

A press release from ICE gives us a shocking list of the crimes committed by Mexican Julio Cesar Cruz-Velazquez.  After each one, the Seattle police let him go free.

Julio Cruz-Velazquez has the aforementioned significant criminal history:

On Feb. 3, 2000, Cruz-Velazquez was encountered by Border Patrol and voluntarily returned to Mexico the following day. He reentered the United States illegally at an unknown location on an unknown date, without inspection.

Cruz-Velazquez was arrested three times from 2010-2012 by the Seattle Police Department on local charges including robbery and manufacturing and possessing a controlled substance. On all three occasions he was released prior to ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On June 7, 2012, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. He was subsequently released on an unknown date, prior to ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On Aug. 10, 2015, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested for failure to comply by the Seattle Police Department. He was released, yet again, without ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On Nov. 16, 2015, Cruz-Velazquez was convicted of vehicle prowling and sentenced to 364 days in jail and 12 months community service. Cruz-Velazquez was later released on an unknown date.

On July 27, 2016, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with burglary and malicious mischief. He was released, yet again, without ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On July 7, 2018, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Tukwila Police Department and charged with rape and domestic violence.

On July 9, 2018, ICE lodged a detainer with the King County Jail. The detainer was not honored and the King County Jail released him on an unknown date without notifying ICE.

On Jan. 4, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Tukwila Police Department and charged with failure to comply and driving under the influence.

On Jan. 7, 2019, ICE lodged a detainer with the King County Jail. The detainer was not honored and the King County Jail released him on an unknown date without notifying ICE.

On April 4, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was convicted of assault II-domestic violence.

On July 10, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was booked into the Nisqually Jail and charged with a community custody violation. The following day, he was released prior to ICE being able to lodge a detainer.

On Nov. 7, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with homicide. ICE lodged a detainer the same day with King County Jail.

No other way to say it, but King County Sanctuary policies killed Sam Lang Nam.

Texas: Nigerian Student Arrested after Being Found with Dead Mother’s Body

The story is over a week old, however, I checked this morning to see if he has been charged with murdering her yet and only see that he is still being held on a million dollar bond.

And, although I’m late on reporting the news (thanks to reader Gail for sending it), it really doesn’t matter because I suspect that unless you follow Texas news, or LOL! Nigerian tabloid news, you haven’t seen this elsewhere in America.

Our media doesn’t mention that the obvious ‘new American’ is Nigerian, but I’ve noticed that news media in Nigeria is always quick to identify their own. See here.

Once again we have a criminal from Nigeria.  Why on earth do we have so many of them living here?

Here is KVUE (ABC):

AUSTIN, Texas — A University of Texas student has been arrested as police investigate the cause of his mother’s death at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Downtown Austin.

20-year-old Eyitoluwa Olayeye University of Texas student arrested.

Austin Police Department officers responded to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 4:44 a.m. on Wednesday after the caller reported they heard screaming in one of the rooms.

Upon arrival at the room in question, police forced entry and found the victim lying face down on the floor with the suspect on her back.

Police then detained the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Eyitoluwa Olayeye. The victim was identified as his mother, 48-year-old Kehinde Olayeye. She was pronounced dead at 6:12 a.m.

Police reported a bloody pillow was found inside the room and the suspect appeared to be singing in a different language. A witness also reported they heard a female running down the hallways around 4:15 a.m. saying “let me in.” He also said he heard what appeared to be a person being dragged past his room.

Upon speaking with the victim’s sister, she told police they had flown to Austin from Georgia the night before to visit Eyitoluwa. She said she was staying in a separate room from the pair and was unaware of any disturbance between them before she went to her own room.

Police then learned that Eyitoluwa was released from Dell Seton Medical Hospital on Nov. 5, where he was treated for psychiatric evaluation.

While they were still in Georgia, the suspect’s aunt said she heard him rambling and saying, “I pray that God brings us together.” The suspect’s friends had also told them that he was saying he had found his purpose in life and that, apparently, he had touched someone inappropriately at the library on campus and had been asked to leave.

Eventually, the friends called back to tell them that Eyitoluwa was transported by EMS to the hospital. Prior to boarding their flight, she said a doctor called them to ask if they had a history of mental illness in the family, which she said she was not aware of. Later, the friends called again to say that he had been discharged.

[….]

At the hotel, the aunt said he again began to speak about God [which God?—ed] and his purpose, and that he had gotten into an argument with a professor about the economy and how it was not in favor of the poor.  She also said he told them that the hospital was trying to hold him because of a mental issue, but he “just told them what they wanted to hear so they would let him go,” court documents state.

She said he appeared to be “really hyped up” at this point, so she told him to go to bed. She said that she and her sister wanted to bring him back to Georgia. She also said she hugged him before going back to her own room.

There are a lot more details, so go here to read it all.

For new readers:

If you have recently started following ‘Frauds and Crooks’ please have a look at my ‘Welcoming post’ from January first of this year.   I wanted to write this blog as I saw increasingly that the Open Borders Left had launched a national media effort in advance of the 2020 presidential contest to tell the public about all of the joys that ‘new Americans’ bring to our country.

I want to balance that propaganda by telling you about the frauds, criminals, terrorists and murderers in the ‘new American’ population.

You can bet if a refugee from Somalia goes to Harvard, we are told that he/she is a refugee and from Somalia.

However…

One of my major concerns is that even when the mainstream media reports on horrific cases like this one, we rarely learn the nationality of the alleged criminal and almost never hear how the perpetrator gained entry to the country—legally or illegally.

Therefore, we can never judge whether a legal immigration program is flawed and is opening our gates to frauds, crooks and criminals.

Chief Hate-Monger at SPLC is out!

And, so fitting to learn the news on Halloween!

Heidi Beirich the Southern Poverty Law Center’s chief architect of their fake Hate Group List has resigned.

The Daily Beast suggests it is the latest in a leadership shakeup that followed the ousting of the SPLC’s founder Morris Dees back in the spring.

Maybe someone in the new leadership has figured out how dishonest and shoddy Ms. Heidi’s work has been!

One blogger does not make a GROUP!

I described here in February how I was once again added to their Hate Group list when I am a lone blogger—literally posting my opinions alone in my basement, and yes, at the moment in my pajamas!   One blogger is not a group!

Further demonstrating how sloppy their supposed investigations are, they couldn’t even get the town correctly identified where my supposed group meets to plot more hatefulness.

And, it wouldn’t be so bad, it would be funny! except for the fact that the mainstream media believes them with no questions asked.

Hmmm! Could the SPLC be expecting more lawsuits involving Ms. Beirich’s sloppy work?  She cost them $3.3 million last year!

I digress, here is the news from The Daily Beast (hat tip: Ted):

Southern Poverty Law Center Loses Intel-Gathering Boss

The leader of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project is stepping down amid an ongoing leadership shakeup at the anti-hate organization.

Heidi Beirich will leave the SPLC, ending a 20-year run with the organization, she told staffers Monday. Her exit follows several resignations and terminations of SPLC leadership this year—including its cofounder, who was fired amid sexual harassment allegations, and a deputy legal director who said the organization had “more work to do” to guarantee a respectful workplace.

Beirich has worked for the SPLC for 20 years. An expert on the neo-Confederate movement, she led the SPLC’s Intelligence Project, which produced much of the center’s front-facing journalism including its Intelligence Report magazine and Hatewatch blog. In a Monday memo to staff, she cited the two-decade anniversary as a reason for her departure.

“It was with a heavy, heavy heart given how deeply I care about this work and all of you amazing people,” she wrote. “As some of you may know, I reached my second decade here (yikes I’m old!) in September and I’ve felt for a while now that it may be time for a change for me.

It’s been a long and intense last few years for me, especially since Trump graced us with his presence and then with the challenges here at SPLC, and I am ready for a break and, after a few months of Netflix, a new start.”

Morris Dees (center) and Heidi Beirich in happier times—2016—before the you-know-what hit the fan! https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Society/2016/0218/Does-the-Southern-Poverty-Law-Center-target-conservatives

But recent decades reportedly saw internal complaints against [Morris] Dees. The SPLC acknowledged this year that he was twice investigated for “inappropriate conduct,” although Dees denies wrongdoing. In March, two separate sets of SPLC employees penned letters to the center’s leadership, referencing allegations of sexual harassment and racial discrimination connected to Dees.

“Allegations of mistreatment, sexual harassment, gender discrimination and racism threaten the moral authority of this organization and our integrity along with it,” one of the employee groups wrote.

More here.

Enjoy your Netflix, and good riddance….!
