***Update***UK Daily Mail has more details and photos, says the attacker is Hispanic and will be arraigned on Tuesday.
Random Act of Violence?
It is so very shocking and sad. She was just out for a nice afternoon walk with her dog.
One of several stories on the horrific case is at The Blaze:
Los Angeles grandma stabbed to death along with her dog in broad daylight
The man arrested (no photo so far) is Ricardo Saldivar.
Fox Newshas a story too and commenters speculate that Saldivar is an illegal alien. Here is what one commenter said:
As an alternate to the death penalty in this case, why not send the suspect, if found guilty, to a CA Police K-9 Academy as a live “training aid”. He would be given a rubber knife to defend himself. That would get better TV ratings than an injection.
When we learn more about Saldivar, I’ll post it.
I spent my writing time today at RRWwriting this week’s refugee news round-up.
“The defendants in this case perpetrated hate crimes that targeted innocent victims in their homes simply because of their skin color.”
(Acting Central California U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison)
In a recent postI highlighted an interview by Los Angeles radio personality Jesse Lee Peterson of a Washington DC libertarian lobbyist, Alex Nowrasteh, in which Peterson told the open borders pusher that illegal aliens from south of the border attacked and made life miserable for American inner city blacks.
Peterson says illegal aliens are “destroying black communities” while Nowrasteh says race relations between “new Americans” and blacks are going well.
For years I have been hearing about how ‘new Americans’ of all stripes were making life harder for struggling blacks as the immigrants and refugees pushed their way into traditional African American neighborhoods.
Here is corroboration of Peterson’s allegations that Nowrasteh didn’t want to believe.
After all, everyone knows that minority groups naturally love each other in the great American (mythical) melting pot, right?
LA Gang Member Gets 16 Years for Firebombing Black Homes
(CN) — Carlos Hernandez, ranking member of the Big Hazard street gang, was sentenced Tuesday morning to 192 months in federal prison for his role in orchestrating the 2014 firebomb attacks in Los Angeles that targeted African American families.
Hernandez, 36, also known as “Rider” and “Creeper,” was sentenced nearly seven years after he and several other Big Hazard gang members arranged a plan to firebomb several apartments at the Ramona Gardens housing complex in Boyle Heights with the intent to target African Americans and force them from their homes in the dead of night.
According to court documents, Hernandez led a team of seven gang members on May 11, 2014 – Mother’s Day – to the housing complex in the middle of the night to attack four separate apartments, three of which were occupied by African Americans. After Hernandez divided the gang members into groups and armed them with lighters and hammers, as well as arming himself with a semiautomatic handgun, the gang threw lit Molotov cocktails into the occupied apartments.
In one of the attacks, a mother with a sleeping infant on her chest only just missed being hit directly by one of the explosives after she rolled onto the floor upon hearing the window shatter.
“The defendant planned, coordinated, and led these racially-motivated attacks that targeted vulnerable families, including grandparents and infants, while they were sleeping peacefully in their own homes,” Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Pamela S. Karlan of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in a statement.
Well-planned attack
Law enforcement officials determined that this plan was by no means a random assault. Hernandez made sure that all of his members were masked to conceal their identities and had all ditched their cell phones prior to the attack to avoid being tracked. The group even traveled to the L.A. complex using a preplanned route that kept them clear of surveillance cameras.
Hernandez managed to cover the group’s tracks so well that the case went unsolved for two years following the firebombing before law enforcement managed to determine who was behind it. Once caught, all of the gang members in the case admitted to police that they went out of their way to specifically attack African American families and wanted them to move away from the complex, which receives federal funding.

Acting Central California U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said the sentence should serve as a reminder that the federal government will continue to prioritize bringing to justice those who would engage in these kinds of violent and racist acts.
“The defendants in this case perpetrated hate crimes that targeted innocent victims in their homes simply because of their skin color,” Wilkison said. “These despicable acts are simply unacceptable in our society.
It looks like in less than his first one hundred days, Biden has an Islamic terrorist attack on his hands, but you will likely never hear those words uttered.
Just a nut with a gun, move along, nothing to see.
Of course, a week ago the nut with a gun was a white guy perpetrating a hate crimeagainst Asians.
This week it’s a ‘new American,’ a Syrian Muslim, whose innocent victims are all white and you likely won’t see the phrase “hate crime” anywhere outside of conservative media.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, the Left will rage, but their fury will be directed at the weapon and not the man. (Biden will have his excuse.)
The Syrian immigrant is just a nut who had gone over the edge, driven there by Islamophobic America. And, they may go one step further and blame it on (understandable to them) pent-up Trump hatred.
Here is just one of many stories you will see today (this one at CBS) about the slaughter quoting Biden’s reaction:
At the White House, President Biden said another city has been “scarred by gun violence” and called on Congress to pass gun control measures. “I just can’t imagine what the families are feeling, the victims whose futures were stolen from them, from their families, their loved ones, who know have to struggle to go on and try to make sense of what’s happened.”
There was a delay by authorities in announcing the name of the suspect, so a bunch of Lefties went crazy on social media blaming whitey for the shooting.
Ahmad al Aliwi Alissa isn’t a ‘white man,’ so can we make assumptions about what motivated him?
We know now that the man who shot up a grocery store Monday in Boulder, Colorado, is an immigrant from Syria named Ahmad al Aliwi Alissa. In the context of recent history, this means there’s reason to think he might be a Muslim terrorist. But saying that aloud will get you called a racist by the media.
For now, we’ll just have to pretend that this is another “lone wolf” who in no way fits into the totally not-real pattern (according to the media) of mass violence perpetrated by Muslim extremists in places as far-flung as Mumbai, Rouen, and Chattanooga and as close as Miami, San Bernardino and New York.
If Aliwi Alissa were white, we could at least assume, without any evidence, like the media are doing with the recent killing spree in Atlanta, that this was an act of white supremacism. Instead, it looks like we’re back to square one.
Gasp! Maybe he was a pro-Trump anti-masker! Opinion writer Eddie Scarry continues….
Of course, before the shooter was identified by police, liberals had been very eager to draw early conclusions about him. They were 100% certain he was white and perhaps even an anti-masker — i.e., a Trump supporter.
I’m serious. Liberal journalist Kurt Eichenwald *** mused on Twitter that the details might reveal that the shooting, which left 10 people dead, was an episode of “anti-masker violence.”
Meena Harris, the niece of Vice President Kamala Harris, tweeted immediately after the shooting that “violent white men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country.” She anticipated that Aliwi Alissa might be a real terrorist, but not the kind that Democrats would rather not acknowledge.
Kurt Eichenwald’s COVID Freakout: ‘I Want to Find an Antimasker and Beat Them to Death’
(Islamic terrorists, not so much…..)
Eichenwald thinks the country is insane!
Is there a chance in hell that we will hear the truth if this later tweet speculation, that Biden provoked an Islamic terror attack, turns out to be on the mark?
There is so much news and commentary about this horrible event and I have a doctor appointment today with little time to look further. So please send some links with updates via the comment section here at ‘Frauds and Crooks.’
I would love to know if anyone sees anything about how his Syrian family came to be living here.
And, of course, pray for the innocent victims’ families.
“How many of you knew that an alleged serial killer recently operated for years in Dallas and Collin counties, targeting elderly residents?”
(State Rep. Jared Patterson, R-Frisco introducing his bill, one of three bills to assure the horrific murders of vulnerable seniors bring some protection for others.)
The question Patterson asks is one I pose to friends when they ask me about topics I write about on this blog.
Invariably the answer is no, they hadn’t heard, and that is because a story that should be known across America is no where to be found in the mainstream media.
Oh yes, it was covered briefly when Billy Chemirmir was initially arrested, but very little news since then has escaped beyond the state of Texas.
If this is the first you are hearing about it, know that a Kenyan immigrant spent several years getting into the apartments and homes of elderly women in the Dallas area, allegedly smothering them with pillows and stealing their valuables.
Investigators and medical examiners missed the murderous pattern and two dozen died before Chemirmir was arrested.
(There could be more victims. The extent of his murder spree is still not fully known.)
Although some were suspicious, the victims’ families were led to believe their loved one died of natural causes.
Tragically, when the case began to unravel, some family members learned through social media that their mother was the victim of a serial killer.
But, not letting their personal tragedies cause them to mourn in silence, some of the daughters came together to form an organization whose mission is to make sure their horror isn’t visited upon others in Texas.
That is where we pick up this story that has been covered extensively by reporter Charles Scudder at the Dallas Morning News.
‘It is overwhelming’: Daughters testify in support of Texas bill filed in response to Chemirmir case
Police say the women’s mothers were probably victims of the serial-murder suspect. Now, families are urging Texas legislators to pass measures to improve safety in senior-living homes.
AUSTIN — Arm in arm, heels clicking down the marble floors of the Texas Capitol as they walked toward a hearing of the House Committee on Public Health, Shannon Dion and Cheryl Pangburn worried that the legislators wouldn’t hear their message.
For years, they’ve tried to raise an alarm. For years, they said, no one has listened.
Dion was always suspicious about how her mother, Doris Gleason, died in October 2016, but she was brushed off by police, property managers and news reporters alike. Pangburn also had lingering questions after her mother, Marilyn Bixler, died in September 2017, but for months after she learned the truth through Facebook, she couldn’t get police to give her a straight answer.
Investigators now say both women’s mothers were killed by Billy Chemirmir, who is charged with 18 counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted capital murder in Dallas and Collin counties.
Police say he targeted women in independent-living communities and their own homes, smothering them with pillows and stealing jewelry, cash and other valuables to sell.
“You don’t wake up in the mornings without thinking of it,” Dion said.
“It’s with us every day, and you get used to that flow,” Pangburn said. “Then you’re in Austin testifying and it hits you.”
Within days of learning what had happened, Dion and Pangburn say, both wanted to find a silver lining — something good to come from their horror, something to make sure no one else would go through it, too. They and other relatives of the dead founded the nonprofit Secure Our Seniors’ Safety to raise awareness about the slayings and pressure lawmakers to pass laws aimed at improving security at senior-living communities.
Now, after countless late-night calls with each other and Zoom meetings with lawmakers, Pangburn and Dion were finally in Austin, talking to legislators, asking them to listen.
More here. It might be behind a paywall (I am a subscriber), but you should be able to read the story here.
Please visit the website Secure our Senior’s Safety (sign up for their newsletter) and see how these women have come together to assure that their personal tragedy results in changes in the law so that maybe your family, at least in Texas, doesn’t suffer the same fate.
Driven by a special passion they are Fighting Back in a campaign I’ve been describing in my Community Organizing 101 series.
I don’t know if you have been seeing the stories about how we need more refugees and immigrants so that they can become our caregivers as we age, but I have.
Those warm and fuzzy stories are everywhere, and frankly it gives me the creeps because stories like this one are everywhere too!
(I have a bunch of news items I’ve tagged ‘elder abuse’ here at Frauds and Crooks.)
Please keep an eye on your vulnerable momma! This son did!
Maybe there should be laws in each state that prohibit men from caring for women in nursing homes.
Son catches Minnesota senior home worker sexually assaulting 83-year-old mom on webcam: reports
A Minnesota senior home employee was caught sexually assaulting an 83-year-old woman, who has Alzheimer’s disease, when her son checked in on her via webcam Monday night, according to reports.
The son said he remotely witnessed 52-year-old Olabamidele Olumide Bewaji caress and undress his mother before sexually assaulting her twice in her room at the Pillars of Mankato Senior Living home, the Mankato Free Press reported, citing a court complaint.
He told investigators that he used a speaker on the camera to demand Bewaji stop, according to the complaint. Bewaji eventually stopped, but the son noted he did so slowly.
Police found the victim partially dressed and said she was confused as to what happened, the paper reported.
Bewaji, who works at the facility, initially denied the sexual assault, the Southern Minnesota News reported, citing the criminal complaint, but he later admitted to the sexual abuse after learning investigators would conduct a search warrant.
Bewaji also told police that he had sex with the woman last month and understood that she was a vulnerable adult, the reports said. He claimed that the octogenarian had initiated the sexual acts.
Nigerian!
As usual our press never mentions the nationality of perps like this one, but the African media usually does!
Nigerian arrested in US for raping 83-year-old American Woman
Thank God for the poor woman’s son! Not only will he see justice for his mother, but he possibly saved other vulnerable senior women from the same fate.
