During his two years working as a “research coordinator” on an H-1B visa for the Rochester, Minn., Mayo Clinic, Pakistani medical doctor Muhammad Masood allegedly saw himself as having gotten “behind enemy lines” where “not many people cant [sic] even reach here to attack.”

A federal criminal complaint almost lost in the nation’s Corona-19 virus crisis alleges that Masood planned from the day he arrived in America on his H-1B visa in February 2018 that he would use the rare access it afforded to learn something useful about his enemies so as to conduct violent jihad in line with his perceived religious duty.

By January and February 2020, according to the complaint, the 28-year-old was messaging on an encrypted platform about how sick he had grown of smiling every day at the “passing kuffar”, a derogatory term for non-Muslims that often justifies execution. All the smiling was “just not to make them suspicios [sic] … I cannot tolerate it anymore.”

He messaged that he could not let his H-1B visa go to waste. “Sometimes I wantto [sic] attack enemy when I am behind enemy linea [sic] itself,” he messaged in January. “[I] wonder if I will miss the opportunity of attacking the enemy when I was in the middle of it.”

By the grace of an undercover FBI investigation, Masood will do no such thing.

Agents arrested Masood on March 19. By then, he had changed the plan from attacking the local kuffars he hated so much to joining ISIS in northeast Iran and Afghanistan, or in Syria as a medic, or maybe engineering drones “and also fight”. It’s unclear why he changed his mind about attack on U.S. soil.

Islamist Watch Warning: Beware “Woke” Muslims

Since I had previously devoted some attention to immigrant-pushing Islamic cleric Imam Omar Suleiman this post at Islamist Watch by Sam Westrop jumped out at me this morning as I did my usual perusal of the news looking for items that I think would interest you.

Westrop points out that the Salafists have not needed to change (or pretend to change) in Europe because the Muslim population there is high enough to push their ‘purist’ agenda without ‘modifying’ their hardcore beliefs, but in the US the population is not high enough (yet!) so they need the Leftwingers, the Progressive Dems, to essentially hide behind.

The Growing Political Power of ‘Woke,’ Modernist Islamism

 

Imam Omar Suleiman rarely talks about da’wah – the Islamic duty of proselytization. He never talks about Islamist designs for an Islamic state. Instead, America’s leading Islamic cleric speaks about broad political change, employing the language and ideas of progressivism.

In fact, Suleiman, president of the Yaqeen Institute, is not just a preacher; he is an activist, found often in front of TV cameras, speaking before Congress, or being arrested on Capitol Hill at protests against the Trump administration’s policies.

His success is surprising. Suleiman is one of a number of popular clerics who emerged from a network centered around the AlMaghrib Institute, a Salafi-founded organization dedicated to a hardline strain of Islam. Its own extremism is incontrovertible. Founder Muhammad Alshareef once wrote a paper titled “Why the Jews Were Cursed,” in which he claims Jews control the media and murder prophets. Other leading Almaghrib clerics include Abdullah Hakim Quick, who calls for the killing of homosexuals and urges God to “purify” Al-Aqsa from the “filth of the Yahud [Jews],” and “clean Afghanistan and Iraq” from the “filth of the Kafiroun [unbelievers].”

Suleiman’s rhetoric has at times been just as extreme. Around 2014, he was busy beseeching the ummah to rise up and act against the forces that threatened Islam. He praised a newer generation of “awakened” Muslim youth, and lauded the piety and commitment of the people of Gaza. And he criticized those who were “too lazy” to boycott the “Zionist regime,” claiming such activism by a committed few had already cost the Israelis over 8 billion dollars.

But as his fame grew, his tactics changed. Whereas once Suleiman excused the killing of adulterers and denounced homosexuality as a “repugnant shameless sin,” today he is an ardent advocate for political alliances with the progressive Left, including “LGBT” movements. In lectures and quasi-academic essays, Suleiman and Yaqeen now promote Islam as a force for “social justice.”

Instead of talking just about refugees from Gaza or Syria, Suleiman is today also found at the border with Mexico – equipped with journalists and their cameras – to embrace non-Muslim emigrants and loudly protest the Trump administration’s policies.

And rather than remain just a regular fixture on the Islamist conference circuit, Suleiman today finds himself introduced to Congress by Nancy Pelosi, and given a platform at Bernie Sanders’ campaign rallies, to talk about the “promise of America … an America that resists the forces of bigotry … the forces of greed … that distract us from corrupt billionaires.”

Omar Suleiman is both the Left’s talking-point and its talking-head.

He is no longer issuing parochial calls for an awakened Muslim youth, but he has become part of a broader hard Left movement that claims to be building a utopia for all.

Michigan Doc Doing 45 Years Wants Out of Prison Due to COVID Fears

Lebanese doctor Farid Fata wants a “compassionate” release from prison because his health is so poor, he says, he might catch the Chinese virus and die in the slammer.  With a 45 year sentence that is likely anyway, COVID or no COVID.

I mentioned Fata last September in a list of Michigan docs involved in pushing opiods, but he was given that long sentence because his crimes were much worse. Even worse than bilking Medicare.

Farid Fata seeks ‘compassionate’ release due to potential for contracting coronavirus

Former cancer doctor Farid Fata, imprisoned for illicit treatment of patients, is seeking release from his 45-year term due to “deteriorating health” and the likelihood he will contract COVID-19.

Fata, 55, of Oakland Township, claims he suffers from several medical issues and is susceptible to contracting and dying from the coronavirus, which has spread through the federal prison system,according to document filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

“With Fata’s medical conditions and age, contracting COVID-19 could very well prove fatal,” his attorney, Jeremy Gordon, says in a 13-page legal brief accompanied by exhibits submitted to Judge Paul Borman.

Gordon notes there have been at least 40 deaths of inmates in federal prisons nationwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, and nearly 2,000 inmates and 356 Bureau of Prisons staff have tested positive for the virus.

He says several inmates have been granted “compassionate release” due to the coronavirus, including many in the past week alone.

Fata’s request prompted a disgusted response from attorney Brian McKeen, who represented dozens of victims in a malpractice lawsuit against Fata.

 

“What a joke,” McKeen said. “The man got what he deserved. He had no compassion for the lives of his patients. He caused unspeakable suffering and pain, and deserves to be where he is for the rest of his life. People went through living hell because of Dr. Fata.”

He made millions of dollars providing 2,770 unnecessary chemotherapy treatments to 100 patients; in all, there were more than 550 victims from throughout Southeast Michigan. Advocates for some deceased patients say Fata was responsible for their demise, and many patients suffered various ailments due to unnecessary treatment, such as organ damage, lost teeth, nerve damage and lost bone in sinus cavities.

Fata was ordered to pay $26.5 million in restitution to individuals, health insurance companies and federal agencies.

Surely you have seen the news about the British professor Neil Ferguson who is the supposed brains behind the COVID-19 modeling that is now responsible for crashing (or near crashing) economies worldwide.

Stay sane. Protect the economy. Save livelihoods.

Thanks to reader Judy for sending me a story from this week about the coding model (now under scrutiny) used to justify the lockdown of the UK (and most of the world!) published at a new website entitled, Lockdown Sceptics, where there are posts almost daily critical of what the great minds have been telling us must be done to save us from certain death.

Author, Brit Toby Young, describes why he launched this website a month ago:

On Friday, April 3rd I wrote an article for the Telegraph about the tsunami of criticism I’d received after publishing a sceptical piece earlier that week about the Government’s lockdown strategy. That piece appeared in the Critic and shortly after it was published I started trending on Twitter, with thousands of people denouncing me, often using intemperate language. In the Telegraph article I expressed my disappointment about this reaction and said people shouldn’t feel shy about criticising the lockdown even if those views put them at odds with the majority. Our leaders are making decisions every day that will affect all our lives for years to come and it’s right that we should debate their options in the public square.

In the days that followed the publication of the Telegraph article I was contacted by dozens of people, most of whom shared my reservations and were frustrated that the Government’s decision to lock down the country wasn’t being adequately challenged. Some had tried to get their views published in newspapers, either as letters or articles, but without success. That’s why I’ve decided to set up this website. The idea is for it to serve as a hub for sceptical articles, papers and interviews that have appeared elsewhere, as well as a platform for lockdown sceptics to air their views in the form of comments.
