CAIR Urges Muslims to Sign up for Board and Commission Posts in Virginia

It probably isn’t just Virginia.  I suspect their campaign is nationwide.

However, here is the Council on American Islamic Relations press release from Friday targeting Virginians. (Hat tip: Bob)

CAIR is very busy these days while we are hunkered down and hiding from a virus.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/15/2020) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is calling on all Virginian Muslims to consider applying to one of Virginia’s 774 open state boards and commissions.

The Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth’s boards and commissions website lists 774 board seats that are currently vacant, as well as the seats with terms that will expire this year.

The seat descriptions indicate if there is a specific requirement for that seat (a specific profession, consumer, someone who lives in a certain congressional district, etc.).

If there is only a number listed (Seat 7), there is no specific criteria for that seat.  A “citizen” seat requires someone who is not affiliated with that profession.

Calling ALL Virginians (especially you educated retirees!), why not check the list and see if there is a board or commission post where you might be able to contribute your talents!

Have a look at the list linked above—one appealing board that needs members is the ‘Office of New Americans.’  Surely they would allow one white/European ancestry person on the board!

Conservative Leaders Pen Letter to Facebook in Response to Assault on Free Speech

Well they didn’t specifically stand up to Facebook in defense of VDARE, but VDARE is presumably an early causality of Facebook’s speech “Oversight Board” or perhaps is a test run to see how upcoming purges will be received.

If you hadn’t heard about the silencing of VDARE, learn about it here at VDARE  itself and make VDARE a regular stop on your daily reading list.  I just now googled VDARE and the first item that came up was not its website, but this headline (VDARE | Southern Poverty Law Center) and that is because Google is also (as you are surely well aware) in the silencing business too.

Here is a VDARE story from yesterday you should see about a black sniper killing an 80-year-old couple visiting their son’s grave in a Delaware veterans’ cemetery.  Have some fun and see if you can post it at facebook!

The conservative Free Speech Alliance, led by Media Research Center founder and President L. Brent Bozell, III, and including more than 60 conservative leaders, among whom are CHQ Managing Editor George Rasley and American Target Advertising President of Corporate Affairs attorney Mark J. Fitzgibbons, yesterday released the following statement about Facebook’s new Oversight Board and efforts to decide what content should be taken down from the site:

While leftist organizations savaged him, we supported CEO Mark Zuckerberg when he talked about making Facebook a marketplace of ideas and spoke forcefully saying the company “must continue to stand for free expression.”

Yet leftist forces within and outside of Facebook have condemned him for this, agitating for the company to become an arbiter of what is, and isn’t truth; and therefore what should and should not be presented on Facebook. Facebook wants the public to believe that its new Oversight Board will help solve the problems “about what content to take down or leave up.”

Conservatives warned from the start that any new oversight mechanism was fraught with danger. Our fears were well founded. This new board will damage Facebook more than it can imagine.

It is too early to tell how such this board would rule. [Not really, it looks like VDARE was a test run.–ed] But it is terrifying to imagine how a powerful, leftist group like this might view control conservative speech — speech that defends free enterprise, traditional marriage, religious freedom, the lives of the unborn, free speech and gun rights, to name but a few.

The answer in social media has often been to call such beliefs “hate speech,” the club the left has used to beat their opponents into submission on college campuses and online. And it has been a code word for anti-conservative censors like the Southern Poverty Law Center to shut down speech it doesn’t like.

NJ: Muslim Candidate for Congress Says She is Getting Death Threats

And, CAIR has come to her rescue.

Update April 29: No arrests yet, but 200 women leaders have condemned the act.

CAIR-NJ Calls on FBI to Probe Death Threat Targeting Family of Muslim Congressional Candidate

(SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ, 4/22/2020) – The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) today called on state law enforcement authorities and the FBI to probe a death threat targeting the family of Muslim congressional candidate Amani al-Khatahtbeh.***

On the evening of April 21, Al-Khatahtbeh reportedly received a phone call from an unknown number threatening to kill her and her family. She received the threat shortly after a virtual town hall she hosted on Instagram.

The caller said in part: “Your parents live at [address]. I will f**king kill them and. . .I will torture them and feed them bacon and f**king pork…As soon as you get off the phone, I’ll f**king go to his house…“Ni**er, you’re Muslim, you f**king ugly Arab Muslim. You terrorist.”

In a statement, CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut said:

“The chilling death threat exemplifies how Muslim candidates are especially targeted during election cycles.

“We know Islamophobia follows election cycles and is often exacerbated and amplified by the negative rhetoric of political leaders.

These death threats have become all too common for Muslim candidates, but we must not allow ourselves to be numbed by their frequency.

“Political leaders must denounce such hatred in order to protect the safety of Muslim Americans and all minority communities.”

***Inspired by the success of her role model, Rep. Ilhan Omar, she is running against longtime Democrat incumbent Frank Pallone in the Sixth Congressional District.

In 2018 Rutgers graduate Al-Khatahtbeh explained how bad she has had it in New Jersey as a Muslim woman.

 

By the way, when you put yourself out there, expect blow back. I recently got a hate mail letter in my post office box—the author said he was going to rape me and sue me for being a Nazi.  It was unclear from the letter which punishment would be meted out first!

Would someone keep an eye on this story. Just search for her name every few days and see if any additional news turns up.  Let’s see if someone is arrested for making a death threat.

Dear Mr. President, You Will Not Energize the Base with Half Measures on Immigration

So much for the President halting all immigration to the US during the on-going Chinese virus crisis.  See yesterday’s post.

 

Today we have Politico (of all places) describing what is believed to be the direction President Trump’s executive order on immigration might take when it is revealed possibly today.

Trump’s immigration pause falls well short of full ban

On Monday night, President Donald Trump vowed he would suspend immigration into the United States during the coronavirus outbreak.

On Tuesday, he unveiled his plan. It was far short of a full ban.
Trump announced that he will sign an executive order blocking most people for 60 days from receiving a permanent residency visa, or green card. But the order will still allow the government to continue processing visas for hundreds of thousands of temporary employees, including farm workers, landscapers and crab pickers — the largest source of immigration.

The order is also expected to carve out additional exemptions for so-called essential employees, including health care workers, and immigrants who come into the United States through immediate family members, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Trump, who will sign the executive order as soon as Wednesday, said the measure will be reassessed in two months.

“It would be wrong and unjust for Americans laid off by the virus to be replaced with new immigrants, labor flown in from abroad,” Trump said at the daily White House briefing, nodding to the 22 million Americans who have filed for unemployment in recent weeks. “We must first take care of the American worker, take care of the American worker.”

The move angered conservatives who were hoping the president would go further. The Trump administration has already paused most routine visa processing and refugee cases during the coronavirus pandemic, meaning the president’s executive order may be redundant for many already-stalled cases. Moreover, a majority of immigrants seeking green cards are already living in the U.S.

The Administration has not paused the Special refugee status for Afghans.

“Briefly delaying green cards for people, most of whom are already in the U.S. and working, and ignoring work visas doesn’t help U.S. workers and doesn’t ease pressure on hospitals, “ said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies.“Can’t know for sure until there’s actually something official to read, but this looks more like a political gesture than a serious policy move.”

“To continue most immigration at this time would show a callous disregard for those Americans who are enduring deep economic suffering,” said Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, which supports immigration restrictions.

Trump’s announcement had his critics decrying the move as a transparent attempt to rile up the president’s base in an election year, while distracting from the ongoing criticism of his coronavirus response.

The Coronavirus Curse May Spell the End for Media as We have Known it….

….which means there is a great opportunity for any of you who want to launch your own web-based media either national or more importantly state and local websites and blogs.

I have for years—a dozen actually—been urging all of you to consider writing your own blogs.

There is a crying need for citizen investigative journalists who would follow various government programs as watch dogs.

And, as local newspapers die, you should consider becoming the news outlet in your own community, county or state. What are you waiting for!

There may be silver linings to be found with this COVID crisis after all.  Small local newspapers are likely to go down, see here at The Hill last week:

Sad (maybe), but if your city or county is like mine, the local newspaper was long ago gobbled up by a Left-leaning mega media company blatantly putting its slant on the local news.

Enough of the nagging, here is what I wanted you to see that should bring a smile to your faces.

Our Super Smart Elite Shines During This Pandemic!

We Americans are truly blessed by having a mainstream media full of brilliant renaissance men, women, and gender non-specific entities who are masters of so many varied and intermittently useful skills and who are eager to share their knowledge with us benighted souls. The pandemic has revealed that every urban Twitter blue check scribbler, MSNBCNN panelist, NYT/WaPo doofus, and barely legal “senior editor” of a website you never heard of, is a Nobel Prize-winning epidemiologist, a master logistician, and a diversity consultant too boot.

They may all be lousy journalists, but damn it, they are also lousy at other jobs that they didn’t even pretend to train to do.

It’s awesome to see people with zero life experience in any relevant field weighing in as if we shouldn’t just laugh in their pimply faces.

The media largely fell for the Imperial College Apocalypse Flu scenario, but then they wanted to. It’s more fun to be chronicling the Fall of Rome than Just Another Day in the Third Century A.D. under Emperor Elagabalus. The doomsayers ended up walking back their zillion dead to a few thousand dead, and the media just sort of ignored it because “Phew! Dodged a bullet!” doesn’t have the same resonance as “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE (and it’s Trump’s fault, not our ChiCom friends’ fault).”

Our media is garbage, full of clowns and dilettantes with no experience and less common sense. The media is now complaining that the pandemic is hurting its industry badly and that some of the media may go under because of the Woking Pneumonia.

Read it all because we all need a good laugh these days!
