Airline Mechanic Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani Arrested for Sabotaging Plane

The story is everywhere this morning, but missing one key element—a photo of the arrested man.

I’m guessing he is Somali and you should know that large numbers of Somali refugees have obtained employment at airports throughout the US.

Update!  A reader tells me he is an Iraqi!

Here is just a bit of the bare bones story.  Supposedly he was angry over union negotiations. Sure.

From the Miami Herald:

American Airlines mechanic in Miami charged with sabotaging plane. It aborted takeoff.

An American Airlines mechanic was arrested Thursday on a sabotage charge accusing him of disabling a navigation system on a flight with 150 people aboard before it was scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport earlier this summer.

The reason, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court: Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, a veteran employee, was upset over stalled union contract negotiations.

None of the passengers and crew on the flight to Nassau were injured because the tampering with the so-called air data module caused an error alert as the pilots powered up the plane’s engines on the runway July 17, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court.

As a result, flight No. 2834 was aborted and taken out of service for routine maintenance at America’s hangar at MIA, which is when the tampering with the ADM system was discovered during an inspection. An AA mechanic found a loosely connected tube in front of the nose gear underneath the cockpit that had been deliberately obstructed with some sort of hard foam material.

Alani is charged with “willfully damaging, destroying or disabling an aircraft” and is expected to have his first appearance in Miami federal court on Friday.

According to the complaint filed Thursday, Alani glued the foam inside the tube leading from outside the plane to its air data module, a system that reports aircraft speed, pitch and other critical flight data. As a result, if the plane had taken off that day from MIA, the pilots would have had to operate the aircraft manually because the ADM system would not have received any computer data.

After his arrest Thursday, the affidavit says that Alani told federal air marshals assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force that “his intention was not to cause harm to the aircraft or its passengers.”

He said that his motive in tampering with the navigational system was because he was “upset” over stalled contract negotiations between the mechanics’ union and American Airlines that has raged for months — that “the dispute had affected him financially.”

He further said he only tampered with the plane’s air data module “in order to cause a delay or have the flight canceled in anticipation of obtaining overtime work,” according to the affidavit.

If you find a picture of the alleged terrorist, let me know.  And, if anyone finds any mention of this ‘new American’s’ nationality please send it my way!

New York (again!): Pakistani-born Teen Charged with Providing Material Support to ISIS

We welcomed another ‘new American’ who wants to kill us!

Planned a knife attack at a local Dunkin’ Donuts!

And, what is up with Queens and Islamists?

See my post yesterday about two Muslim women in Queens planning attacks on their fellow Americans, now this “kid,” as his lawyer describes him, had similar plans.

Lawyer: “By all accounts he’s a kind, shy, caring young kid who’s living with his family.”  https://nypost.com/2019/08/30/teen-who-plotted-isis-knife-attack-planned-to-escape-on-his-scooter-prosecutors/

You may have seen the story last Friday, but just in case!

From the New York Post:

Teen who plotted ‘ISIS knife attack’ planned to escape on his scooter: prosecutors

A reclusive, braces-wearing teen who lived behind a white picket fence with his devout Muslim family was secretly an ISIS sympathizer — and was plotting to launch a knife attack at a Dunkin’ Donuts and other targets near his Queens home, the feds alleged Friday.

Awais Chudhary, 19.  I wonder, did he know the women who plead guilty last week in Queens?

His getaway vehicle of choice? A Razor scooter, federal prosecutors in Brooklyn say.

Awais Chudhary, 19, planned to strike at the Dunkin’ just blocks from his East Elmhurst home, and was also targeting pedestrian bridges over the Grand Central Parkway to the Flushing Bay Promenade and the World’s Fair Marina, prosecutors said in court papers.

Chudhary had texted back and forth with two undercover agents he believed were ISIS terrorists, sharing his attack plans and telling them that he’d pledged his allegiance to the terror organization, the feds said.

At one point, he allegedly sent one agent an ISIS diagram of the human body that he’d found online, showing where best to plunge a knife into a victim, the feds said.

He also allegedly asked for guidance on constructing a small “bucket bomb,” which he hoped to fling from an overpass onto vehicle traffic below.

[….]

Chudhary was arrested in Queens on Thursday as he tried to pick up items he’d ordered online for his attacks: a tactical knife, a mask and a special wearable strap to hold a cellphone he’d hoped to use to livestream the carnage, the feds said.

The wiry, bearded teen was ordered held without bail at his Brooklyn federal court arraignment Friday on charges of providing material support to a terrorist organization.

Unbelievable, his lawyer downplays his alleged attack plans by saying it was only a Dunkin Donuts he was targeting!

“This is not something where he’s masterminding something in the subway or Times Square. He’s looking at a Dunkin Donuts,” his court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Jacobson, argued in asking that bail be set at $100,000.

The plot was just a “fantasy,” the lawyer insisted.

[….]

“By all accounts he’s a kind, shy, caring young kid who’s living with his family.”

More here.

By the way, we don’t admit huge numbers of Pakistanis as refugees, so I always wonder how did we get so many.  Which legal avenue are they accessing to get here in such large numbers?

There is a detailed recitation of the case against him, here at the US Justice Department.

Muslim Women Plead Guilty in NYC Terror Plot

“Velentzas and Siddiqui were intent on waging violent jihad here in the United States.”

( FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. )

Another Jihadist terror attack foiled!

The President should be bragging at rallies about the good work of law enforcement in catching these (and other) bomb plotters.

Described as US citizens, I’m curious as usual about their nationalities and how they came to be ‘new Americans.’  If anyone knows, please let me know!

From American Security Today:

ISIS-Inspired Queens Women Plead Guilty to NYC Bomb Plot (Multi-Video)

At the federal courthouse in Brooklyn on Friday, Asia Siddiqui and Noelle Velentzas, both citizens of the United States and residents of Queens, pleaded guilty to teaching and distributing information pertaining to the making and use of an explosive, destructive device, and weapon of mass destruction, intending that it be used to commit a federal crime of violence.

Noelle Velentzas, 31, and Asia Siddiqui, 35 in court Friday

The guilty pleas were entered before United States District Court Judge Sterling Johnson Jr. When sentenced, the defendants face up to 20 years in prison.

“Inspired by radical Islam, Velentzas and Siddiqui researched and taught each other how to construct bombs to be used on American soil against law enforcement and military targets,” said Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers.

“They were thwarted by the excellent work of the agents, analysts and prosecutors who are responsible for this investigation and prosecution. For this, we are grateful.”

[….]

“Velentzas and Siddiqui were intent on waging violent jihad here in the United States, researching at length historical terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, educating themselves on how to turn propane tanks into explosive devices, and dreaming up plans to kill Americans on our own turf,” said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. on Friday.

[….]

When the defendants were arrested, law enforcement officers seized propane gas tanks, soldering tools, car bomb instructions, jihadist literature, machetes and several knives from their residences.

Update on the Arizona Somali Refugees Arrested for Supporting ISIS

I told you about Ahmed Mahad Mohamed, 21, and Abdi Yemani Hussein, 20,  here and here, but I hadn’t seen this news—-they were hitting the gym to get stronger for the beheadings they were planning.

Katie Pavlich had this short extra bit of news when the story broke (thanks to Cathy for sending it).

Don’t miss my post yesterday about 167 Jewish groups want 95,000 more refugees (Somalis included!) delivered to Anytown, USA starting on October first!

From Townhall:

Somali Refugees Living in Tucson Started Hitting the Gym to Get Stronger…for Beheadings

According to the indictment the two men, Ahmed Mahad Mohamed and Abdi Yemani Hussein, started hitting the gym in order to get stronger so they could easily perform beheadings.

“On or about June 26, 2019, MOHAMED told the UC (undercover FBI agent) that he and ‘abu’ jihad started going to the gym so they could get stronger and ‘behad those kuffar,'” the indictment states. “MOHAMED indicated that he wanted to make hijrah and asked for help from the UC. MOHAMED state that he was ‘a lion bu killing the kuffar and behading.’ In addition, MOHAMED told the UC, ‘if I go to Syria I want to be the behading person wallahi this kuffar I want to kill them so many I am thirsty their blood.’ MOHAMED indicated he wanted to travel to Syria, Egypt and/or Iraq.”

How many more refugees are out there with dreams of beheading the kuffar?

And, gee, in addition to paying for their initial resettlement to the US (did we, taxpayers, pay for the gym membership too?) we get to pay for their trials and incarcerations!  See my next post!

"Arkansas man" Charged with Aiding Islamic Terrorists

Although he really isn’t an Arkansas man!  He is a Yemeni national who lived in Arkansas ever since his father used illegal means to get his family into the US.
Thanks to Richard for the tip.

Surprise! Surprise! There is even a photo of Bilal al-Rayanni (aka Bilal Kassim Alawdi)

The story broke yesterday and is rapidly making the rounds of small city media outlets since the AP posted a pretty decent story.
Initial local Arkansas media coverage left out a key point, as did yesterday’s Justice Department press releasenone that I saw, except the AP, said a word about how this Yemeni NATIONAL was living among us.
Indeed, rarely do we see mention of how these criminals and terrorists get into the US in the first place and that is always the most important question for me.
How do we fix our ‘broken’ immigration system if we don’t know how it is being gamed?
Here is a bit of the AP story posted at the Washington Post:

Arkansas man charged with helping al-Qaida

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Yemeni national living in Arkansas was charged with providing support to a terrorist organization, the U.S. Department of Justice said Friday.
Bilal al-Rayanni was charged Thursday with supporting al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula between October and December of 2014 while he was in Yemen.

Yemen KSA Iran map border_0
Al-Rayanni was in Yemen, his home country, for three months in 2014.

The 28-year-old was initially on arrested June 27 and charged July 11 with making a false statement on a passport application in May. According to the original complaint, he allegedly used the name Bilal Kassim Alawdi, which he had been using on passport documentation since he was a small child.
The Justice Department said al-Rayanni “provided and attempted to provide material support and resources, in the form of personnel (including himself) and services” to the terrorist organization, but did not elaborate. A spokeswoman said the department opened an investigation because of a citizen report.
[….]
The Justice Department said al-Rayanni lived in Arkansas before and after he traveled to Yemen in 2014.
Al-Rayanni is a resident of Helena-West Helena, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Little Rock. He’s been in federal custody since the June arrest and his arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
In an interview the day before he was arrested, al-Rayanni told State Department and FBI agents that his father had purchased a U.S. visa from a Yemeni man whose name was Kassem Alawdi. His father then used that visa in 1992 to obtain a U.S. passport for al-Rayani under the name Bilal Kassim Alawdi. He said he didn’t learn his true name until he was between 10 and 12, but has used the false name to obtain and renew passports in 2002 and 2008, as well as the most recent attempt to renew his passport in May.

I’m more interested in the immigration fraud then I am in his terrorist inclinations!
I sure hope the US Justice Department is now going after his Daddy and anyone else who got into the US with him by lying and cheating!
If it was a visa, then for what?  Did they just overstay the visa and no one figured out that they were here illegally?
And, if they got into the US on only a visa for some limited time, how did they get US Passports with only visas permitting them to be here?  So many questions!
