Utica, NY: Mugshots of those Arrested Will No Longer be Published

Regular readers know that I joke here about how little information is available when immigrants (aka new Americans) are arrested for a crime.  Rarely do we learn the nationality or immigration status of the perp.

Gov. Cuomo And Hillary Clinton Make Announcement On Reproductive Justice In NY
NY Governor Andrew Cuomo: Mugshots are an “unwanted invasion of personal privacy.”

Ann Coulter has said you need a “secret decoder ring” to figure out the bare minimum when a ‘new American’ is involved in criminal activity, but sometimes the mugshot is helpful.
Unfortunately, in Utica, NY and probably all of the state of New York, those arrested are entitled to privacy say Democrat political leaders.  And, we will have even less information!
By the way, longtime readers of my other blog, Refugee Resettlement Watch, will recognize Utica as it was an oft mentioned important resettlement city. The UN even featured it as the city that loves refugees.  Go here for many stories about Utica.

New Twist on Food Stamp Fraud: Redeem your Benefits at a Nail Salon

One thing is for sure—new American entrepreneurs are clever, so clever that I am sure many are escaping unnoticed in every immigrant community in America.

food stamp fraud
But there is no food at a nail salon!

This is a story from Rochester, NY where an Asian owner of a nail salon was able to set up a scam that allowed his customers to use their food stamps (our money!) to get their nails done.
Is this what the cabal behind the New American Economy is talking about when they proudly proclaim that immigrant-run businesses are propping up dying cities?
I have maintained for years that money might be flowing into dying cities when immigrants (aka NEW Americans) arrive largely because the money comes via Washington and federal programs set up to benefit the poor, but it isn’t new money!  It is money from federal tax payers recycled to places like Utica, Buffalo or, as in this case, Rochester, NY.

New York: Malaysian Born, Harvard-Educated Cardiologist Charged in Horrific Torture Case

This story about an immigrant doctor, Vignendra Ariyarajah, is going to make you sick.
I don’t know why it isn’t all over cable news this morning! (Is it reluctance to show another ‘new American’ in a bad light?)

Dr. Vignendra Ariyarajah

Indeed, there is very little coverage of the case of the doctor now wearing an ankle monitor in the media generally.
It seems that the New York Post got the scoop and in its usual swift and sensational fashion, the UK Daily Mail published the story yesterday replete with many photos of the alleged mastermind of a gruesome kidnapping case that resulted in the death of a new born baby.
And, with a photo of the good doctor with then Veep Joe Biden!

Cab Company Owner Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Medicaid, Other New Americans Made Him Do it!

According to the US Department of Justice:

Arshad Nazir, age 54, of Ticonderoga, New York, pled guilty to conspiring to defraud Medicaid, and conspiring to pay bribes and kickbacks to Medicaid beneficiaries who used his medical transportation service. He admitted to causing at least $550,000 in losses, and to paying at least $95,000 in bribes and kickbacks.

medicaid fraudNazir’s lawyers say other cab companies run by other ‘new Americans’ made him do it in order to stay competitive (I kid you not!).
Here is a recitation of the charges against him from the local The Post-Star, including a mention of the defense that he previously was a good guy before he was a bad guy!

Cab Company Owner Pleads Guilty in Ticonderoga Case

He admitted to causing at least $550,000 in Medicaid program losses through false filings, and to paying at least $95,000 in bribes and kickbacks. In all, his company received $2.45 million in Medicaid payments between 2014 and 2018, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Nazir, whose company was known as Avalanche Taxi Co., faces up to 10 years in federal prison when sentenced June 18 by U.S. District Judge Thomas McAvoy. He also will be required to make $550,000 restitution.
[….]
According to prosecutors, Nazir admitted that he committed a variety of fraudulent acts involving Medicaid and the state Department of Health, including:

Billing Medicaid and receiving payment for trips where beneficiaries drove themselves to their own medical appointments

Falsifying the identities of the drivers for those trips.

Billing Medicaid and receiving payment for round trips to and from medical appointments when the beneficiaries took only one-way trips with Avalanche Taxi.

Falsifying pick-up and drop-off locations in order to increase the purported distances traveled and therefore be able to claim and receive higher Medicaid payments.

Nazir also admitted that he agreed to pay kickbacks and bribes to Medicaid beneficiaries in order to get the beneficiaries to schedule and keep scheduling medical transportation appointments with Avalanche Taxi. Those kickbacks included cash, cigarettes and tobacco, and free goods at Nazir’s convenience store in Ticonderoga.
His lawyer, Kevin O’Brien, said Nazir ran a legitimate taxi business for years, but when others moved into town and used fraudulent practices to take his business, he followed.

Now have a look at the names of some of the other cab company owners who apparently “moved into town” to compete with Nazir in the Medicaid transport business!

Charges are still pending against others who were involved in the scheme, including four other Ticonderoga cab company owners, Qaiser “Kaz” Gondal, 46; Khalid M. Chadder, 49; Waqas Nauman, 37; and Khurram Gondal, 39.

More here.
And, don’t miss this!
An earlier US Dept. of Justice press release lists more names of ‘new American’ entrepreneurs investigated in Ticonderoga and neighboring towns in welcoming New York!
No time for the ‘Secret Decoder Ring’ investigation today, but if anyone knows where Mr. Nazir is from and what his immigration status is, let me know!

Connecticut: Illegal Alien Arrested in Gruesome Murder

You have probably seen this news about another illegal alien killer, however I’m mentioning it because the sensational aspects of the case have made it news around the world.
The victim was beautiful and her body was stuffed in a suitcase and dumped in the woods making the news apparently more interesting to the mainstream media than the Reno, Nevada case I reported recently where four older Americans were killed in their homes by another illegal alien creep—a story that didn’t get nearly the coverage this one is getting.
The man alleged to have murdered the young and beautiful Valerie Reyes is in the country illegally as a visa overstay.
From the Washington Times,

Suspect in suitcase death in U.S. illegally, authorities say

A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and dumping her body in a suitcase in Connecticut is a citizen of Portugal who has been in the U.S. illegally for more than a year, federal authorities said Wednesday as the victim’s loved ones gathered for her funeral.

Javier Da Silva Rojas, who had been living in New York City, was taken into custody Monday and charged with kidnapping resulting in death in the killing of 24-year-old Valerie Reyes, of New Rochelle, New York. The charge carries the possibility of the death penalty.
Da Silva, also 24, entered the U.S. on May 8, 2017, through the Visa Waiver Program and was required to leave by Aug. 5, 2017, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement.

If you are interested in reading more about the alleged killer, simply search his name and you will see stories about the murder everywhere.

question markWe spend a lot of time talking about “the Wall,” but the feds need to do more to round-up visa overstays and get them the heck out of the country!  Why not let the President know how you feel about the need for greater enforcement!
