Massachusetts: Just Another 'New American' Doctor Caught Cheating Medicare/Medicaid

This is a story like so many and wouldn’t have been worth mentioning except that it was fun to find out a little bit about the perpetrator.

The joke of course is that a story like this never mentions anything about the background of the alleged crook and as Ann Coulter said one needs a “secret decoder ring” to learn more about someone with a name like this one—-Dr. Hooshang Poor.
(I searched for a photo of Dr. Poor, but gave up.)
Below is the news of Dr. Poor’s settlement with the government over his Medicare/Medicaid fraud.

Newton Doctor Accused Of Fraud To Pay $680K In Settlement

NEWTON, MA – A Newton doctor has agreed to pay $680,000 to resolve allegations that he violated the False Claims Act by submitting inflated claims to Medicare and the Massachusetts Medicaid program (MassHealth) for care to nursing home patients, the US Attorney’s Office and the Attorney General announced Thursday.

“This doctor stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from MassHealth – taking away health care resources for those who are most in need,” said Attorney General Maura Healey in a statement. “We will continue to take action to defend the integrity of MassHealth and protect Massachusetts residents.”
Hooshang Poor, who has been treating patients in long-term care facilities since 1987, was audited by MassHealth and the state in 2017. The government contends that, between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017, Poor submitted inflated claims for nursing home care by assigning false procedural codes that overstated the length, extent, and scope of services he and his employees furnished to nursing home residents, according to the government in the settlement agreement.
“Dr. Poor enriched himself at taxpayer expense by improperly billing Medicare and Medicaid,” said United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling in a statement.

Then get this next charge.
He billed for services even while he was out of the country on ten trips! My first thought was: Did he take our taxpayer dollars abroad?

The audit also found that Poor billed MassHealth for more than $15,000 in services that took place while he was traveling abroad on 10 different occasions.

Dangerous drugs improperly administered!

The government said Poor did not establish proper guidelines for his staff to follow when prescribing medications to their patients and yet during the audit period, Poor’s nurse practitioner and physician’s assistant wrote 657 prescriptions, including 211 for narcotics such as fentanyl, oxycodone, and methadone.

Who is this guy I wanted to know!

US News has a little bio for Dr. Poor and we learn he has been practicing medicine here for 20 years and received his medical training at Shiraz University of Medical Science.
That University is in Iran. Is Dr. Poor a US citizen? That is unclear.
We learn a few more nuggets of information at MyLife. We learn that he has used several aliases and that he is a Muslim.

Hooshang Poor is 68 years old today because Hooshang’s birthday is on 03/05/1950. Hooshang’s Reputation Score is 3.42. Before moving to Hooshang’s current city of Newton Center, MA, Hooshang lived in Sunny Isles Beach FL. Hooshang Dadkhahipoor, Hooshang Dadkhahi Poor, Hooshang Dadkhani-poor, Hoo Dadhahipoo and Hoshang D Poor are some of the alias or nicknames that Hooshang has used. Background details that you might want to know about Hooshang include: ethnicity is Caucasian, whose political affiliation is unknown; and religious views are listed as Muslim.

So, LOL! maybe the headline to the story should read, Muslim Doctor from Iran Rips off American Taxpayers.
Of course, that will never happen! But, I can dream can’t I?
I’m increasingly seeing stories about nursing home frauds that usually involve some issues of dangerous drugs being handled improperly, so are you keeping a close eye on loved ones in long term care facilities?

And one more thing, if you are looking for something to do, contact the reporter or editor of the paper when you see stories of obvious ‘new Americans’ committing crimes and ask why they aren’t telling us any background on the perp?

Editor: It’s a snow day here in the East so hopefully I will have more time to check e-mails and post your comments. Sorry that sometimes I’m AWOL!
Yesterday I told you that we should want to keep Minnesota Somali Representative Ilhan Omar talking. Consider her Minnesota’s gift to America!
I’m guessing her cocooned life in Minneapolis, surrounded by thousands of her own ethnic group, didn’t prepare her for a national stage and so she doesn’t have her mentor’s (Keith Ellison) slickness.

Therefore the savvy hard Left political organizations that do understand that she might be putting her foot in it, want to school her and tone her down.
One of those savvy political organizations is the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) headed by CEO Mark Hetfield. See one post of a very large archive at RRW about HIAS.
Over the many years I’ve followed their activities, contrary to what you might assume, HIAS has demonstrated no great love for the state of Israel.
I’m guessing that they are saying, ‘damn we are bringing in Muslim refugees, Omar’s friends and family, and then we get dumped on by Omar!’
(I’ve seen it mentioned in a recent news report about HIAS that some of their supporters are questioning why HIAS resettles Muslims in the first place!).
The story (about a CONFIDENTIAL phone call!) is widely reported.

Ilhan Omar apologizes to Jewish groups for hurt caused by AIPAC tweet

In a brief confidential conference call with Jewish organizations, Rep. Ilhan Omar apologized for any hurt caused by her tweets suggesting that AIPAC pays politicians to support Israel.
“Let me reiterate my sincere apology for any actual hurt my words have caused,” Omar, a freshman Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota, said on Tuesday afternoon, according to someone present on the call.
“I know there are a lot of people who in the last weeks have expressed support in trying to say this isn’t anti-Semitic or this shouldn’t be looked at in that way,” she added.

But Omar said it is up to the Jewish community to define anti-Semitism.
“I do not want to give space or energy to anyone who wants to minimize the hurt,” she said.
Omar came under fire last week for posting successive tweets suggesting that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the pro-Israel lobby, pays politicians to be pro-Israel. Democratic and Republican leaders condemned the tweets as echoing anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews, money and power. The allegation is also false, as AIPAC does not donate to candidates or endorse them.
Omar subsequently apologized for the tweets.
The call Tuesday included a range of centrist and liberal Jewish groups including the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish Democratic Council of America, the refugee resettlement agency HIAS, Americans for Peace Now and Bend the Arc.
Omar kept her remarks brief but promised to meet face to face with the groups in the near future.

Here is something you can do (and probably are doing!) especially you Minnesotans, find every word she has uttered in her meteoric rise to power there and publish those words (and actions)— focus especially on those words that educate people about Islam. Do it in a drip, drip fashion in order to keep her in the news.

Ohio University Student from Oman Indicted in Rape/Kidnapping Case

Diversity is beautiful alert!
This story is from December, but I’m writing about it for several reasons (thanks to reader Anne Marie for sending it).
First I see that the story never made it to any news outside the state of Ohio. Why is that? I have a good guess!
But, more interesting to me is that the story says he is scheduled for trial this month (February), but I can’t find another word about the case.

If someone has a few minutes to dig, help me find out if Mohammed Al-Mashrafi is scheduled for trial this month, was the case postponed, or did he post bail and skip the country?

Ohio University student indicted in rape case

An Ohio University student was indicted on nine charges, including rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and menacing by stalking.
Mohammed Al-Mashrafi was arrested earlier this month by Athens police.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said Al-Mashrafi is accused of stalking multiple women in and around Athens, including by social media, our partners, CBS affiliate WBNS-TV in Columbus reported.
“Al-Mashrafi is further accused of vising (sic) a local spa where he was observed fondling himself and, upon being asked to leave, refused to pay for his services and ultimately left without paying. On Dec. 5, 2018, Al-Mashrafi’s behavior escalated and he is alleged to have held a female against her will and forcing himself on her sexually,” Blackburn said.

Blackburn said Al-Mashrafi, who had a bond set at $5 million, is in the United States on a student visa from Oman. A trial date is scheduled for February.

Search Mohammed Al-Mashrafi and see that stories about his indictment were pretty widespread in Ohio at the time.

What We Lost When Trump Fired Jeff Sessions

On the day after Trump’s big cave that will now allow more migration to your towns and cities, the Leftwing publication ‘Slate’ joyfully tells us about how the liar and fraud—former Deputy Director of the FBI Andy McCabe—described his former boss Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Of course this is meant to further denigrate a man who for decades fought tirelessly in the US Senate against amnesty for illegal aliens and was the first US Senator to back Donald Trump in his bid for the presidency.

According to a Wall Street Journal review of the book, McCabe wrote in his book that Sessions was only interested in immigration issues. He obsessed over the connection between crime and immigration, and he believed that Islam was an inherently violent religion, according to the Post. When presented with a counterterrorism case, he would first ask where the suspect was born or where the suspect’s parents were from. “He blamed immigrants for nearly every societal problem and uttered racist sentiments with shocking callousness,” Miller concluded from McCabe’s book.
McCabe’s assessment is surprising in only that it comes so bluntly from a man who once was acting head of the FBI but now seems intent on speaking out against the men who made his professional and personal life so difficult for 10 months (before he was fired just hours before his planned retirement, blocking him from receiving his full pension benefits). Sessions has a long, long history of making racist and anti-immigrant comments, while also implementing racist and anti-immigrant policies.

You can go read more if you wish, but let me ask you, don’t you agree with Sessions’ assessments (here cast, of course, in the harshest of terms by Slate)? You must, or you wouldn’t be reading my blog!

One day maybe we will know if it was Jared (and his open borders business pals) who really wanted Sessions out of the way! If Stephen Miller (who came to the Trump campaign with Senator Sessions) leaves the White House you will then know that the open borders (cheap labor) business lobby has succeeded.

Two Canadian ISIS Brides Followed Sharia

Okay, okay, that is not a surprise, but what is a surprise is that CNN is reporting it and using the word “sharia.”
If Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, or Frank Gaffney uttered the following words, cries of “Islamophobia” would be screamed from the roof tops by the likes of Linda Sarsour!
Ben Wedeman, in a CNN story this morning, reports of his interviews with two Canadian women who followed their men to Syria because of Islamic law.

The first woman quoted is Dura Ahmed, 28, originally from Toronto, Canada:

“Did you hear about the slaughter of Yezidis, of Yezidi women being enslaved?” I asked.
“When I came here, I heard. I haven’t seen one, but…” Her answer trailed off with a nervous laugh. “Well, having slaves is part of Sharia,” she finally ventured. “I believe in Sharia, wherever Sharia is. We must follow whoever is implementing the way, the law.”

The second woman is a 34-year-old from Alberta, Canada:

She, too, came to Syria at her husband’s bidding.
“He’s like, ‘it’s obligatory for you to come here. You have no choice, and as your husband I’m telling you to come here.’ And as a Muslim wife you have to obey, even though it was really hard for me to do it.” She takes a deep sigh. “I had to.”
Like Dura, she claims she knew nothing about ISIS or Syria before she made the journey here.

Not that it matters, but the woman from Alberta’s first husband (the one who insisted she come to Syria) was killed in the fighting and then she took another husband who also was killed in the fighting.
