Jeff Bezos Ex-Wife Gives Millions Away to Leftwing Agitation Groups

The list is long, but the one that caught my interest was HIAS (formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) and one of nine federal refugee contractors I have been writing about for going on 14 years.

Hetfield featured at anti-Trump rally in NYC in February 2017. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2017/02/14/breitbart-federally-funded-refugee-resettlement-contractor-hias-organized-ny-rally-against-trump/

Of those nine (below), HIAS hustlers have been the most political, by far, of the contractors and its head honcho, Mark Hetfield, was out front for four years working to defeat Donald Trump with rallies in the streets and cases in the courts all the while sucking up millions of your tax dollars.

Here is the news at Information Liberation.

Thanks to a reader for spotting it!

Bezos’ Ex-Wife MacKenzie Scott Donates $2.7B to Fund HIAS, Open Borders Lobby, Pro-Censorship Groups, Racial Justice NGOs

MacKenzie Scott, who received $38 billion from her divorce with Jeff Bezos, is giving leftist NGOs, the open borders lobby and “racial justice” agitators their greatest windfall in history.

Scott on Tuesday released a list of 286 groups she’s giving another $2.7 billion in divorce money to on her blog.

The first which stands out is HIAS, formerly known as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, which works to resettle refugees through America.

They didn’t say how much her donation was but the head of the group [Hetfield] said it “would enable the group to become an emergency responder to refugee crises around the world in addition to a resettlement agency,” eJewishPhilanthropy reported.

HIAS’s latest financial report for 2019 says they had $80 million in total assets and $55 million in net assets.

I’m assuming they probably got a lot more than the $7 million she gave to Repair The World as they’re now planning to go global.

Another notable group on the list is Muslim Advocates, which is basically just a Muslim copy of the Anti-Defamation League that lobbies for internet censorship, mass immigration and hate speech laws.

The top of their website says how they’re suing Facebook for not censoring enough.

Because you may not be a reader at RRW, here is one of the things I have done over the years and that is to check out IRS Form 990s for the resettlement contractors/political agitators.

Visiting two pages will give you a feel for an organization.  First I want to know how much federal money they receive for their ‘religious’ charitable work.

Here (below) is page 9 of HIAS most recently available Form 990 (2019).

When I first started examining tax documents for non-profits, this information was on page one, but at some point it was moved to page 9 presumably to deter nosey taxpayers from finding it.

Government grants is your involuntary gift from the US Treasury. Some or all of the million in fees is taxpayer money as well.

And here, check out the six-figure salaries the top execs are making.

I call it doing well by doing good.  Think about how some staffer for HIAS is making more than a US Senator, Congressman or Supreme Court Justice!

By the way, if you think it is not kosher of me to post salaries I would agree if the business entity was truly a private one, but these government contractors are spending our money so I figure it is fair game.

To learn more about HIAS, check out my extensive archive at Refugee Resettlement Watch.  To be fair, you should know that some of the refugee contractors get many millions more of payola from the feds than does HIAS.

Below are the nine federal refugee contractors that monopolize all resettlement of third world refugees to your towns and cities. They will soon be awash in your money as Harris/Biden say they will admit 125,000 refugees from Africa, Asia and the Middle East to the US beginning on October first.

The contractors are paid on a per refugee head basis and to a large degree determine which towns and cities will be new resettlement targets.

America First Has No Effective Opposition to Recreating the Third World on American Soil

Saying that the US must “solve the global refugee crisis” is meaningless pabulum.  It will never be solved as third world countries send their excess people off to America and America says sure come on in, we can take care of everyone.

And, then one day, we too will be the third world.

I don’t know if you have been following the controversy about Biden’s flip-flopping on how many refugees he is welcoming to your towns.  I’ve been writing about it for days at Refugee Resettlement Watch where it was a clear demonstration of the power the refugee resettlement contractors have over this President.

NYT: Biden Himself Blocked Increased Refugee Admissions for the Year

We have no organized opposition!

Not just tension between ethnic groups, but big city African Americans resent and attack Asians a large segment of the refugee flow to America.

Our side, the side that believes in America First! and says that America cannot take care of the world with growing factions of ethnic groups that don’t plan on assimilating in cities that are powder kegs, has no organized opposition to the US Refugee Admissions Program.  None!

Yes, there are some immigration control groups working in Washington, DC, but they are either think tank types, or are focused on the illegal alien crisis at the southern border.

Last week, the refugee contractors and their many cohorts in the refugee industry were able to gin-up opposition in a matter of hours when Biden really screwed-up by setting the refugee level for this year at the exact level that the “racist” Donald Trump had left it.

And, that is when the wailing began….

One of the major leaders of ‘bring in the third world’ is the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) and it was their CEO Mark Hetfield who made that comment about America’s duty to lead in solving the global refugee crisis quoted in a report at their blog.

HIAS CEO Mark Hetfield

HIAS’s blog post chronicles what they did on Friday along with the others in the refugee industry lobby to slap Biden silly and to remind him not to wander off the ranch again.

Refugees are money to not just the refugee contractors, but to business interests looking for cheap labor who got in on the action as well and piled on Biden’s team.

HIAS blog...

April 16 was a tumultuous day for refugee resettlement in the United States.

Early that day, President Biden delivered a long-awaited announcement. It was bad news: he would keep this year’s refugee admissions cap at 15,000, the all-time low number set by the Trump administration. While he ordered the end of discriminatory quotas on refugees from certain countries, Biden broke his repeated promises to significantly raise the admissions cap, setting off an avalanche of criticism from politicians, religious leaders, refugee advocates, and the public. By the end of the day, the administration had dramatically reversed course, pledging to raise the cap after all.

“HIAS is relieved that the Biden administration finally got its refugee initiatives back on track,” said HIAS President and CEO Mark Hetfield. “Doing the right thing takes courage. It will take courage for America to lead by the power of our example in solving the global refugee crisis.”

If you feel like it, keep reading.

It’s a handy summary of what happened in recent months and how their massive network of activists went to work on Friday to tell the administration to jump.  Jump it did!  They also call upon their people to continue pressuring Chairman Joe to keep the third world moving in—to your neighborhoods.

RCUSA’s Annual Advocacy Days

This week, Hetfield’s HIAS and others that make up the Refugee Council USA, the lobbying arm of this branch of the international No Borders movement, held its annual lobbying week in Congress.

It was virtual this time (normally they fly refugees in to show the warm and fuzzy side of refugee resettlement), but it basically follows a pattern they have developed over the years—upstanding refugees tell their “stories” to members of Congress to guilt-trip them into pushing for ever greater numbers of refugees to add to the millions we have already moved from Africa, Asia and the Middle East to almost all 50 states.

And, please Congress give us more MONEY!

Refugee Council USA (RCUSA), its members, and our partners convene to host a special refugee virtual advocacy week from Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23, 2021. This virtual week of action and training comes at an important point for the refugee resettlement program. After four years of orders and policy that sought to dismantle the program, we now have the opportunity to rebuild stronger than ever – but we need your help. This week, we ask our community members to join us in championing pro-refugee legislation, and the funding and oversight to make it happen.

We are looking for residents of key states and cities whose representatives can make a big difference in rebuilding the refugee resettlement program…

They don’t have enough refugees to show off, so all activists are welcome….

You can be a seasoned advocate, or hoping to get involved for the first time! RCUSA will be providing a series of trainings, discussions, and materials so each participant feels confident. RCUSA will handle setting up meetings, participants just need to bring their passion and personal stories.

Continue reading and note their refugee “story-telling” training!

And hurry on over to see the list of Senators and members of Congress they are targeting this week. It isn’t everyone.  And, I would be curious to know why they have selected certain members and not others.

They have targeted some of their obvious friends, maybe just to keep them in line.  But, some others strike me as unusual choices.  They are targeting Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Madison Cawthorn, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Louie Gohmert and Jim Jordan among others.

In the Senate they have listed John Kennedy, Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz and Marsha Blackburn.

I am assuming these choices are just to give them a guilt-trip.

Perhaps of most interest to me is that they have listed both Republican Senators and Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming even as Wyoming has NO refugee program and never has.  It is the only state in the nation that has never ‘welcomed’ refugees.

Bottomline, America Firsters have no such organized structure to do what they have done year after year to pressure Congress to do their bidding and welcome in millions of (impoverished) New American Democrat voters (at taxpayers expense!) as the great replacement chugs along.

Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society Sues Trump Again

HIAS does not want local citizens to have any say in which third world refugees are placed in which towns.

HIAS has been protesting Trump from the moment he was elected. Here CEO Mark Hetfield led a February 2017 anti-Trump rally that featured then Rep. Keith Ellison. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2017/02/14/breitbart-federally-funded-refugee-resettlement-contractor-hias-organized-ny-rally-against-trump/

They like the system as it has been for decades with nine federal contractors working with the US State Department determining how much poverty (and diversity) your town can manage.

Because time is short for me to post here at ‘Frauds and Crooks’ today, please visit Refugee Resettlement Watch about HIAS’s lawsuit against Trump’s September Executive Order and about the fact that HIAS is still getting millions of taxpayer dollars while getting richer as it opposes Trump’s immigration policy.

See RRW here:

HIAS Sues Trump Again, Contractor Does Not Want Local Citizens to have a Say in Placement Decisions

HIAS is not alone, they are joined in the lawsuit by two other taxpayer funded ‘religious charities’—Church World Service and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.

These overtly political organizations would be severely curtailed in their anti-Trump agitation if they weren’t receiving millions of your tax dollars!

Taxpayer-Funded Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society Sending Immigration Lawyers to Border so More Migrants Can Get In!

Recently I told you that the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and Church World Service were both either promoting or outright offering sanctuary to illegal aliens.

HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, another of the nine federal contractors  employed by the US State Department to place refugees into your towns and cities, is focusing on hiring lawyers for the law breakers at the southern border.  [For new readers, see nine contractors in this post.—ed]

Jewish leaders at the southern border
HIAS organized a trip for Jewish leaders to the southern border.  https://www.truah.org/letters-from-the-border/

HIAS receives more than half of its income from you via your tax dollars to take care of legal refugees who were selected and screened, and yet they are working feverishly to be sure the illegal aliens on the southern border have legal representation.

Recently they sent out an appeal for financial help.  Mind you! financial help for an organization that got $24,493,702 directly from the US Treasury in 2016 (according to its Form 990 here)!

Why is our money going to a group promoting a progressive political agenda that large numbers of Americans oppose (if they only knew!)?

This is a screenshot of their recent appeal for more moola…

Screenshot (92)

Now let’s have a look at the most recent Form 990 available for HIAS.

Below is the page showing their federal grants.  Notice that their privately raised dollars that year amounted to $17,361,702, less than half of their income.

I think the fact that they can’t raise enough private money for their ‘good works’ signals that the general public just isn’t that interested in their mission.

If you go to page 9 notice that if they weren’t getting federal funding they would die.

Screenshot (105)

Salary and employee expenses amounted to $20,686,120 and their office expenses, rent and travel amounted to another $7,106,664 while they only took in just over $17 million in private dollars.

Again, if they weren’t getting federal funding they would most likely die.  Or, they would have to slash staff or significantly cut the high salaries of top brass!

Have a look at their top salaried positions.

And, btw, let me say that if they were a truly private non-profit (or a for-profit) their salaries would be none of our business, but they aren’t.

They are effectively a government agency which means they can’t keep this information from the taxpayers who pay a significant portion of their salaries!

Endnote:  Readers may have noticed many refugee-related stories here at Frauds and Crooks.  I am still working to restore Refugee Resettlement Watch and once it is done (soon I think!), many stories like this one will be posted there.  However, there is a ‘Charity fraud’ category here at Frauds and Crooks, so stories like this fit right in!

Trump Administration Proposal Would Limit Refugee Placement to Only Towns/States that Want Them!

It is a “malevolent and wasteful plan to concentrate refugees in blue states.”

(Mark Hetfield of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society)

Sounds like a good plan, but it does have problems which unfortunately I haven’t the time to discuss this morning.  The biggest problem is that it is a band aid.  The entire Refugee Program should be scrapped in my opinion.

That said, it sure is fun to watch Trump twist their tails!

From NBC News,

Trump admin weighs letting states, cities deny entry to refugees approved for resettlement in U.S.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is considering a new policy that would allow state and local jurisdictions to deny entry to refugees who have been approved for resettlement in the United States, according to a draft of an executive order obtained by NBC News.

hetfield-at-ny-anti-trump-rally1
Mark Hetfield at NY anti-Trump rally!

According to the draft, “the federal government will resettle refugees only where both the relevant state and local governments have consented to participate” in the program that allows refugees to resettle.

The plans are currently out for review by lawyers and counterparts at various government agencies, a senior DHS official said.

If a state or local jurisdiction does not agree to take in refugees, the federal government will have to find another location, according to the draft. An exception to this rule would be made in the case of resettling spouses or children of refugees already settled.

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment.

Refugee rights organizations have long advocated for refugees to be relocated in areas where there are already refugees of the same country living to create a sense of community for those fleeing violence and persecution.

It is wonderful how the President gets them to show their colors!

Here a former Obama official admits there wouldn’t be enough ‘welcoming’ states and cities (if given the opportunity to say NO!) to accommodate all the refugees the refugee industry is demanding.

Booregard
Peter Boogaard, photo from his twitter account: https://twitter.com/pboogaard

Peter Boogaard, who worked on immigration issues in the Obama White House, said the executive order would hinder religious organizations, like the Catholic Church, from resettling immigrants in states around the country and “would also have a dramatic impact on the ability of future administrations to return refugee admissions to the normal historic levels.”

[….]

If carried out, the draft executive order on refugees would undermine efforts to resettle them and violate the intent of a 1980 law that clearly grants the federal government authority over refugee policy, said Mark Hetfield, president and CEO of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), which works to resettle refugees under State Department agreements.

“Governors could elect not to take part in the refugee resettlement program. That would have a horrible impact on the program. That would literally be an abdication of federal authority,” Hetfield said.

He called it a “malevolent and wasteful plan to concentrate refugees in blue states.”

To add fuel to the fire, tell Trump you like the idea, but it doesn’t go far enough!
