Down the Memory Hole: Whatever Happened to the Muslim Candidate’s Complaint that She was Getting Death Threats?

Remember the story from April.  I posted it here.

NJ: Muslim Candidate for Congress Says She is Getting Death Threats

In another in my series of posts I’m calling ‘Down the Memory Hole’—forgotten because the media doesn’t really want to report anything that doesn’t fit their ‘world view,’ I wondered whatever happened to Congressional candidate Amani al-Khatahtbeh.

Back in April she complained that someone called her home with a message:

On the evening of April 21, Al-Khatahtbeh reportedly received a phone call from an unknown number threatening to kill her and her family. She received the threat shortly after a virtual town hall she hosted on Instagram.

The caller said in part: “Your parents live at [address]. I will f**king kill them and. . .I will torture them and feed them bacon and f**king pork…As soon as you get off the phone, I’ll f**king go to his house…“Ni**er, you’re Muslim, you f**king ugly Arab Muslim. You terrorist.”

The candidate’s website appears to be deserted. You can bet if some evil-doer was identified and he was on a certain side of the great American political divide, the website would have trumpeted the arrest. http://amani2020.com/

Not only did CAIR jump on the bandwagon with its Islamophobe dog whistle but she garnered the support of dozens of prominent women who came to her defense.

Whatever the truth is about the death threats, it didn’t help her win the primary election where she received only 2.8% of the vote.

Yesterday I went to see if I could find out whether the perpetrator of the death threats had been identified and guess what I found—NOTHING!

Not a mention that I could find about whether there was even any investigation of the allegations.  But you see it almost doesn’t matter if the call even happened because it was planted in the minds of those following the story that there was such a despicable person (and he surely must be a redneck Trumpster!).

Maybe I didn’t look hard enough, maybe you can find the truth about whether hers is another hate crime hoax, but in the meantime down the memory hole it goes…..

See the previous two posts in my new category—‘Down the Memory Hole!’

Maryland: Another Hate Crime Hoax Exposed, Racist Graffiti Writer is Black

“[I]t’s hang a [n-word] month.”

(Jerome Kevin Jackson)

You might see this news in a few local news reports and here at the The College Fix, but it won’t be news trumpeted by the New York Times or CNN!

(Hat tip: Aileen)

CONFIRMED: Vandal behind racist graffiti at Salisbury University … is black

Salisbury University experienced massive racial unrest after a series of racist graffiti was discovered on campus over the course of the 2019-20 school year.

The public, Maryland-based university canceled classes for a “day of healing” and hired a new associate vice president for diversity and inclusion at a cost of $140,000 annually.

Authorities have had a suspect since February but refused comment to The College Fix on details. Turns out, the vandal is black.

The man who is scheduled to plead guilty to the vandalism has been charged under a hate-crime statute. His motives for the defacement remain unclear at this time.

Jerome Kevin Jackson, 54, is set to plead guilty June 12 to maliciously defacing school property “while exhibiting racial animosity,”according to a news release from the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County published Monday.

The release states Jackson is responsible for four incidents of “racist and sometimes gender discriminatory graffiti” on campus during the fall semester as well as another incident in February 2020 in which the words “it’s hang a [n-word] month” were scrawled on a wall with black marker.

Here are 50 campus hate-crime hoaxes The College Fix has covered since 2012

Required viewing for Mr. Jackson and his ilk!

A day or so ago reader Linda sent me this incredible Youtube video in which an African American man lectures his fellow blacks (and whites).

Maybe a judge could use messages like this when sentencing people like Mr. Jackson.

LOL! Make him watch this a few dozen times! (In addition to whatever other punishment he must get).

Watch! It is just under ten minutes.

Police Nab Suspect in Missouri Mosque Fire

Last night I saw this news from three days ago posted at an Arabic news site:

FBI Investigates Fire That Damaged Missouri Islamic Center

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone connected to a fire that badly damaged an Islamic center in southeastern Missouri and that coincided with the start of a holy month for Muslims.

[….]

The Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy group, said the fire began at the front door of the building. CAIR noted the timing of the blaze – Thursday night was the beginning of Ramadan, a holy month during which Muslims fast and pray.”

Because the fire was deemed `suspicious,´ and because it occurred at a house of worship on a significant religious date, we urge law enforcement authorities to investigate a possible bias motive for the blaze,” CAIR’s national communications director, Ibrahim Hooper, said in a statement.

Now I see this morning that the police have charged a man caught on a surveillance video.

Grants for cameras….

I guess he was not aware that the feds give out grant money for houses of worship across America to purchase surveillance cameras.  See here.

From the St. Louis Post Dispatch:.

Cape Girardeau police arrest man in connection with Islamic Center fire

CAPE GIRARDEAU — Nicholas J. Proffitt, 42, of Cape Girardeau, has been arrested and charged in an arson fire Friday at an Islamic Center, police said.

Police in Cape Girardeau said Proffitt was in custody Monday and being held on a a no-bond warrant. He was charged with first-degree arson, first-degree burglary and first-degree property damage.

The fire happened Friday morning, on the first morning of Ramadan, a Muslim holy month during which Muslims fast and pray. The center for Muslims to gather is at 298 North West End Boulevard in Cape Girardeau.

About 12 to 15 people were evacuated from the scene of the fire early Friday but no injuries were reported, Cape Girardeau Fire Chief Travis Hollis said. The building had significant damage.”

By the way, there is some news in the case of the hate phone call received by  Amani al-Khatahtbeh who is running for Congress in NJ.  No arrests, but over 200 women leaders have condemned the act.  Not a surprise that these three signed the letter:  Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and Linda Sarsour.

NJ: Muslim Candidate for Congress Says She is Getting Death Threats

And, CAIR has come to her rescue.

Update April 29: No arrests yet, but 200 women leaders have condemned the act.

From InsideNJ:

CAIR-NJ Calls on FBI to Probe Death Threat Targeting Family of Muslim Congressional Candidate

(SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ, 4/22/2020) – The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) today called on state law enforcement authorities and the FBI to probe a death threat targeting the family of Muslim congressional candidate Amani al-Khatahtbeh.***

In a statement, CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut said:

“The chilling death threat exemplifies how Muslim candidates are especially targeted during election cycles.

https://www.launchgood.com/campaign/strengthening_cairnjs_fight_against_islamophobia#!/

“We know Islamophobia follows election cycles and is often exacerbated and amplified by the negative rhetoric of political leaders.

“At a time in which our nation is facing an alarming rise in xenophobia, Islamophobia and racism, it is sadly no surprise to see such horrific calls.

These death threats have become all too common for Muslim candidates, but we must not allow ourselves to be numbed by their frequency.

“Political leaders must denounce such hatred in order to protect the safety of Muslim Americans and all minority communities.”

More here.

***Inspired by the success of her role model, Rep. Ilhan Omar, she is running against longtime Democrat incumbent Frank Pallone in the Sixth Congressional District.

In 2018 Rutgers graduate Al-Khatahtbeh explained how bad she has had it in New Jersey as a Muslim woman.

By the way, when you put yourself out there, expect blow back. I recently got a hate mail letter in my post office box—the author said he was going to rape me and sue me for being a Nazi.  It was unclear from the letter which punishment would be meted out first!

Would someone keep an eye on this story. Just search for her name every few days and see if any additional news turns up.  Let’s see if someone is arrested for making a death threat.

Mississippi: Another Hate Crime Hoax Aimed at Trumpsters Unravels

In case you missed it!

“Leave N****r’

From Bizpacreview:

Mississippi man falsely reports racist, pro-Trump graffiti on his car, meets up with KARMA

A Mississippi man has been charged with insurance fraud after claiming his vehicles were spray-painted with racist, pro-Trump graffiti last month.

Trumaine Foster was arrested for the hate crime hoax on Friday by Southaven police, charged with insurance fraud and tampering with evidence following a report in early February that his two vehicles had been vandalized, WREG-TV reported.

Foster said he woke up on Feb. 4 to find one of his vehicles had “N****r” spray-painted on it, while another car had “Leave N****r’ and “Trump” painted along its side. A local pastor and resident of the community where Foster lives expressed his shock over the act in an interview with WREG at the time, saying the incident was in no way an “indictment” of Southaven.

The good pastor immediately concluded that indeed there was a racist Trumpster in their midst.

“This had to be unnerving for a quiet family to come out to their cars and see what they saw there,” Pastor Vincent McCaskil said.

“It’s time for us as believers to truly speak up and speak out against it,” he added. “We cannot remain silent against this.”

Continue reading to see how Foster’s hoax went terribly wrong—for him.
