Under President Trump the Federal Government is Working to Combat EMP Warfare

EMP stands for Electromagnetic Pulse and an EMP episode could come from a hostile foreign government or from a natural occurrence, but in either case it is really really bad news if it should ever happen in our lifetimes.

Read this novel! Find out exactly how society would collapse one second after an EMP attack. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4922079-one-second-after

In May of 2015, I had the honor of meeting and briefing candidate Donald Trump in a backroom at a National Security Summit in Iowa. See here. Of course, my portion of the briefing was on the US Refugee Admissions Program, but Dr. Peter Pry briefed the President on the danger of EMP and how we as a country are not prepared for such a catastrophic event.

Trump was extremely interested in what Pry had to say and was shocked to learn that the federal government was doing little to get ready for what might be the worst destructive event to hit America and the world.

Oh, and btw, for preppers this is the ultimate nightmare.

My view is that it is futile to think regular Americans like you and me would survive an EMP attack (read the novel!), so don’t let the ultimate nightmare stop you from prepping for smaller disruptions to our comfy lives, like rioting Leftists, food supply chain disruptions, storms, fires and, as in California, mismanagement of the electrical supply.

I’ve been busy with my own issues since the Iowa summit, but I see this morning that the Department of Homeland Security is working on the problem after the President issued an Executive Order in 2019.

Here is the entire press release from DHS which is lost in the muddle of news about the election and the Marxist-generated chaos on American streets.

DHS Combats Potential Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack

Releases: Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Program Status Report

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to prepare against ever evolving threats against the American homeland, most recently highlighting efforts to combat an Electromagnetic Pulse attack which could disrupt the electrical grid and potentially damage electronics. Today, the department is releasing the Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Program Status Report as part of an update on efforts underway in support of Executive Order (E.O.) 13865 on Coordinating National Resilience to Electromagnetic Pulses. E.O. 13865 establishes resilience and security standards for U.S. critical infrastructure as a national priority.

EMP weapons have the potential to disrupt unprotected critical infrastructure within the US and could impact millions over large parts of the country. Since the President’s signing of the E.O. in March 2019, DHS, through the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), in coordination with the Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has taken key actions to address known EMP-related vulnerabilities to critical infrastructure. The EMP Program Status Report highlights efforts taken across the public and private sector to foster increased resilience to EMP events. Through data analysis, vulnerability and risk assessments, testing and pilot programs, and government and industry engagement, the department is identifying critical infrastructure and associated functions that are at greatest risk from an EMP, and developing and implementing best practices to reduce the risk.

“EMP attacks are part of the emerging threats against our nation and demand a response,” said Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli. “That is why DHS is taking these contingencies very seriously, working diligently to mitigate our risks and equipping our state and local partners with the resources they need to do the same. We’ve made significant progress and look forward to the work ahead.”

“As the Nation’s risk advisor, one of CISA’s priorities is understanding and mitigating threats associated with EMPs,” said CISA Director Chris Krebs. “Over the past year, we have worked with interagency and industry partners to identify the footprint and effects of EMP threats across our National Critical Functions, and are developing sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective approaches to improving the Nation’s resilience to EMPs.”

In 2018, DHS released the Strategy for Protecting and Preparing the Homeland against Threats from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) and Geomagnetic Disturbance (GMD), which was the Department’s first articulation of a holistic, long-term, partnership-based approach to protecting critical infrastructure and preparing to respond and recover from potentially catastrophic electromagnetic incidents.

Add this to the extensive list of things the President said he would do if elected in 2016.  I highly doubt the Dems will continue this work if Biden wins in November.

California: Armenian Lawyer Pleads Guilty to Multiple Charges; Bribed FBI and Homeland Security Agents

….among other things!

Thanks to reader Judy for alerting me to the story at the Washington Times from yesterday entitled:

ICE, FBI agents took bribes to provide ‘protection,’ cook books on immigration cases, feds say

I’ll let you read that yourself.  LOL! The story has so many twists that I figured it would be easiest to first check out the press release from ICE, here.

LOS ANGELES – A Calabasas man has agreed to plead guilty to five federal offenses – one related to a credit card bust-out scheme, and the others related to more than $250,000 in bribes he paid to two federal agents for assistance that included sensitive law enforcement information.

Photo at Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/edgar-sargsyan-913925153

Edgar Sargsyan, 39, an attorney with law offices in Beverly Hills, was charged today with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, two counts of bribing a public official, and two counts of making false statements to federal investigators. In a plea agreement also filed today in U.S. District Court, Sargsyan agreed to plead guilty to the five felony counts, which cumulatively carry a statutory maximum penalty of 50 years in federal prison.

In the plea agreement, Sargsyan admitted paying tens of thousands of dollars from the beginning of 2015 through early 2017 to a special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

[….]

Sargsyan paid the HSI agent at least $32,000 in checks and at least $45,000 to $50,000 in cash in return for assistance that included the HSI agent searching law enforcement databases to corruptly obtain information that he passed to Sargsyan, according to the plea agreement. The HSI agent also altered a Department of Homeland Security database to make it more likely that a foreign national who was a client of Sargsyan’s law firm would be allowed to enter the United States. In another corrupt act detailed in the plea agreement, the HSI agent prepared a document on HSI letterhead in an unsuccessful attempt to have one of Sargsyan’s relatives from Armenia admitted into the United States.

Sargsyan also admitted he paid the FBI agent monthly cash bribes of up to $10,000 beginning in 2015 in exchange for the agent providing protection, which included running queries on law enforcement databases and warning Sargsyan to stay away from certain individuals who were the targets of criminal investigations. The agent, who worked out of the FBI’s San Francisco Field Office, accepted the cash payments on trips to Southern California, where he stayed at luxury hotels that were paid for by Sargsyan. The FBI agent also accepted from Sargsyan a $36,000 racing motorcycle as a bonus for running database checks on a particular person. Sargsyan also gave the FBI agent a $30,000 cashier’s check that was made to appear to be a payment to the agent’s business, according to court documents.

In his plea agreement, Sargsyan also admitted he participated in a conspiracy that defrauded financial institutions by fraudulently obtaining credit cards in the names of aliens who had previously been in the United States on J1 visitor visas. Once the credit cards were issued by the financial institutions, Sargsyan and his co-conspirator charged purchases, including more than $941,000 that Sargsyan personally charged at two businesses he controlled, Pillar Law Group and Regdalin Group.

Who is the alleged corrupt FBI agent?

His name is Babak Broumand:

From the Los Angeles Times:

Beverly Hills lawyer is at center of FBI agent corruption scandal, sources say

The FBI agent charged last week, Babak Broumand, ran Cisneros’ and Dermen’s names in restricted law enforcement databases, according to an affidavit supporting charges against Broumand. The queries showed both men were the subjects of ongoing investigations, the affidavit said.

Broumand retired last year after a 20-year career at the bureau. Prior to his departure, he was assigned to the FBI office in San Francisco, trusted with recruiting sources for investigations into national security matters. It was unclear from court records whether he’d retained an attorney.

Now get this!

If there isn’t another Edgar Sargsyan  in the Los Angeles area we find his name pop up again in a 2018 report from Fox News:

Clinton donor’s dealings and murky connections questioned by watchdog group

EXCLUSIVE: The murky nature of Hillary Clinton’s former presidential campaign fund continues to rise to the surface.

Fox News has learned that one of the top donors to the “Hillary Victory Fund” (HVF) in 2016 was a Los Angeles-based attorney who is alleged to have misused company funds to create his own $22 million real estate portfolio. He has also been considered by California to be one of the state’s biggest tax cheats, and allegedly has ties to the Kremlin.

The donor, Edgar Sargsyan, contributed $250,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund in 2016, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, ands chaired a $100,000-a-couple Clinton fundraiser in Beverly Hills in September 2016. He is also being sued by his former company for allegedly diverting those funds to start his own real estate company.

I sure wish I knew how to draw one of these for this story!

Ambushed! Acting Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary Shouted Down; Walks Out of Georgetown Univ. Event

Shame on Georgetown Law School for permitting the ambush!

Are we expected to believe that security at Georgetown Law School permitted this to go on.

Protesters wouldn’t even let Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan speak to the tony group gathered today at Georgetown Law School at the annual Migration Policy Institute confab of the elite ‘thinkers’ in the field of Washington DC immigration policy.

I’ve been to the conference a couple of times over the years to have a look at the players in the Open Borders movement that includes the Catholic Legal Immigration Network.

(See my report at RRW from the 2015 gathering. I’m still chuckling about it first because the elephant in the room was the prospect of Donald Trump as the next President of the United States!  And, secondly because Jim Simpson kept asking embarrassing questions until they finally refused him a microphone!)

Make no mistake about where most of them are on the issue of US immigration policy—the more migrants (aka Dem voters!), the better!

However, this stunt today clearly takes away any idea they may have of at least pretending that they believe in free speech and are moderate thinkers on the subject!

Look at this story from CNBC.

If the Migration Policy Institute and Georgetown Law School was so keen on hearing what McAleenan (the invited keynote speaker!) had to say, why didn’t they just call in security and throw the protesters out the minute they opened their big mouths. Then bring the room to order and let him speak.

Acting Homeland Security chief Kevin McAleenan walks out of immigration conference after multiple attempts to speak over protesters

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan on Monday walked out of an immigration conference in Washington after multiple attempts to speak over protesters.

McAleenan, who was a keynote speaker at the conference, was met with protesters in the crowd who yelled, “When immigrants are under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back!”

Protesters yelled the statement multiple times before McAleenan had a chance to speak at the podium. McAleenan said he would like to discuss the challenges the agency has faced over the past year with the immigration crisis, “above the politics and the daily news cycle.”

Good for you Mr. McAleenan!

But after persistent shouts, McAleenan walked off the stage without delivering his speech.

The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement: “Unfortunately the Acting Secretary and the audience did not get the opportunity to engage in a robust dialogue this morning due to the disruptions of a few activists.”

DHS added that the attendees would have learned about the agency’s “successful strategy to work with international partners to reduce unlawful migration and end the exploitation of children by smugglers and cartels.”

The conference was organized by the Migration Policy Institute and Catholic Legal Immigration Network and held at the Georgetown University Law Center on Monday.

Cry me a river!

“We very much regret that the keynote address Homeland Security Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan was to deliver today at the 16th annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference was disrupted by protestors and could not occur,” said Andrew Seele, president of MPI, in a statement, and that “we very much regret” protesters disrupted McAleenan’s speech.

What a joke! The venerable Georgetown University is “committed to free speech!”

Georgetown University, in a statement, said, “We share our partners’ regret that the audience did not get to hear from the Secretary and engage in a dialogue through the Q&A session that was scheduled to occur following his remarks. Georgetown Law is committed to free speech and expression and the ability of speakers to be heard and engage in dialogue.”

If you are as disgusted with Washington, DC, as I am, this is just one more example of what a swamp it is filled with elite snobs too weak to even stand up to fascist agitators!

Department of Homeland Security NOW Collecting Biometric Data on Refugees

Just now?

Facial-Recognition-tool-e1564154896685 (1)

Didn’t we hear for years during Obama’s presidency that all refugees were being screened and that included the use of so-called biometric data collection?

Every time I saw the Open Borders pushers say that I laughed because what good is the data if there was no data base to compare it to.

Well, we learn here that the Trump Administration is collecting the data on wannabe refugees and groups like Human Rights Watch are squawking!  Of course they are!

If wannabe New Americans have nothing to hide, what is the problem?

From Newsmax,

Report: DHS Collecting Biometric Data on Refugees

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been collecting biometric information for months on refugees who are referred for resettlement — retaining the data even if they never enter the country.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees every year sends profiles on refugees for potential resettlement to federal agencies, according to a report Wednesday by Defense One.

The agencies use the information to determine which refugees may enter the United States. The data include names, birthdates and countries of origin. [Pretty easy to cheat on these things!—-ed]

However, “as of late” the information includes biometric data, Defense One reports.

In January, the United Nations agency contracted with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to share fingerprints, iris scans, face images and other biometric data on the refugees referred for resettlement.

According to Defense One, the agency said the data will help U.S. officials better identify and vet potential refugees.

“Biometric verification guards against substitution of individuals or identity fraud in the resettlement process,” USCIS officials said in a privacy impact assessment for the program.

“Many refugees live for long periods in asylum countries, and the use of biometrics ensures that there is [an] unbroken continuity of identity over time and between different locations.”

Amos Toh of Human Rights Watch

United Nations data cited by Defense One showed that fewer than a quarter of the nearly 85,000 cases reviewed by USCIS last year led to refugees being admitted to the U.S.

Wow!  We rejected 33,485 refugee applicants that apparently had been selected by the UN for us!  What does that tell you!  A lot of cheaters?

The agency rejected 33,485 referrals and closed 30,438 more cases for unspecified reasons.

Human Rights Watch is not happy!

“A centralized database of biometric data belonging to refugees, without appropriate controls, could really lead to surveillance of those refugees as well as potentially coercive forms of scrutiny,” Amos Toh, an artificial intelligence researcher at Human Rights Watch, told Nextgov.com.

If the ‘refugees’ are not liars, cheaters, crooks, murderers, or terrorists, why should it matter if their biometric data is kept on file? One of these days they might show up at the southern border and we would want to know who they are—right!

90% of Migrants Seeking Asylum in the US Never Show Up for their Court Date

That is the statistic given by the acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security before a hearing in Senator Lindsey Graham’s Judiciary Committee yesterday.

They don’t show up because they know their asylum claim won’t pass the smell test!

border crashers
The third world marches to America.  https://usaherald.com/southern-border-breaking-point-says-customs-border-patrol-commissioner/

For the umpteenth time when someone seeks asylum (wants refugee status!) claiming they have a fear of returning to their home country, they must prove that they would be persecuted for one of several reasons—race, religion, political opinion, or because they are a member of a certain (persecuted) group.
(And, they must ask for that asylum in the first safe country they reach!)
The UN and the Open Borders Left want you to think that running from gang violence or seeking a better life are reasons to grant asylum (refugee status); they are not!
So, that is why Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan said in his testimony yesterday to Graham that they suffer from “misaligned asylum standards.”
Someone (a smuggler or a Lefty immigration lawyer) has told them what to say to border patrol resulting in agents determining that they have a “credible fear” of returning home, but that claim can’t later be substantiated in court, and they know it.
So they disappear into the urban woodwork of America.
