Reader Praises Maryland Delegate Kathy Szeliga for Battling the Forces Looking to Make Maryland the Next Sanctuary State

A regular reader of RRW and ‘Frauds and Crooks‘, Michael Peppe, praised MD Delegate Kathy Szeliga in a comment to another post.

I thought it was important enough to post his praise as a stand alone post here at ‘Frauds and Crooks’ where I haven’t talked much about the sanctuary issue.

The Open Borders activists in Maryland are pushing for Maryland to join the list of Sanctuary States in the US and law enforcement officers from around the state are fighting back with the help of one tough member of the Maryland House of Delegates.

Here is Michael Peppe’s comment to me:

Angel families (families whose loved ones were killed by illegal immigrants), legal immigrants, law enforcement and legislators joined us in Annapolis as we rallied against HB 388, said Delegate Szeliga in a recent newsletter to constituents.

Maryland State Delegate Kathy Szeliga has written a truly chilling, horrifying and eye-opening newsletter to her constituents about her fight to stop activists and Democrats from making Maryland a “Sanctuary State”.

Delegate Szeliga https://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/06hse/html/msa15446.html

Among other things, she recounts two heartbreaking anecdotes, one of a 14-year-old girl, witness to a crime, who was brutally murdered by thugs who were able to do so, having been released by a Sanctuary County, undeported, thwarting an ICE detainer. Another story recounts an eleven year old girl, molested by her own illegal Mexican grandfather, who’d been similarly released to do so, again contrary to an ICE detainer.

“Disturbing” doesn’t even cover it. Here’s an excerpt:

Crime continues to be the number one issue people across our state are concerned about. Baltimore City has been named the most dangerous city in America after 4 years of record murders and shootings. Making Maryland a sanctuary state will make our state more dangerous and put violent criminals on the streets. Shielding criminal illegal immigrants from law enforcement harms innocent people.

Take the case of 14 year old Ariana Funes-Diaz in Prince George’s County less than one year ago. She witnessed an assault and stepped in to stop it. When those involved worried she could tell the police, she was brutally murdered; forced to strip, beaten with a baseball bat, slashed with a machete, her dead body left in a tunnel. Two of her three killers were jailed a year prior on a robbery case and instead of cooperating with the ICE detainer, corrections officials released them back into the community. They are MS13 gang members, had previously committed crimes elsewhere in the USA and had been deported.

But here’s the real heart of the issue, succinctly put:

Repeat violent offenders, regardless of their immigration status, should be in prison, not released back into our communities. If repeat criminals are illegally in this country, they must be deported after they serve their sentence – every time! The crimes committed by illegal immigrants are often times not isolated incidents. A July 2018 Government Accountability Office report noted that the 197,000 criminal illegal immigrants incarcerated in federal prisons during fiscal year 2011 through 2016 had been arrested about 1.4 million times and accused of approximately 2 million offenses, about 10 crimes each.

Two million crimes!!  Heart-crushing. But Ms. Szeliga is truly a leonine warrior on this issue.

Is your state, city or county already a ‘Sanctuary’ for illegal aliens?

See the interactive map at the Center for Immigration Studies which as of February 5th lists the following states along with more than a hundred (I didn’t count them) local jurisdictions that have already declared themselves welcoming to those who are hiding from law enforcement.

California
Colorado
Connecticut
Illinois
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Oregon
Vermont

From time to time, I hear from readers looking to move and they ask me where would be a good location.  You might use this map, overlay it with a refugee resettlement map and see what you get.

LOL! Since I know where the refugees are going, I would look at the deep south, South Carolina or Wyoming as safe choices, at least for now!

Chilean Crime Gang Arrested on Long Island

This is pretty outrageous—how did this whole gang of international crooks even gain entry to the US in the first place?  And, why are we never given any information about which of our many ways of gaining entry was exploited?

From Chile, not the usual Mexican or Central American gang either!

Thanks to reader Jonathan for the tip:

From News 12 Long Island:

Police: 3 members of Chilean burglary crew strike homes in Nassau

(Don’t miss the news clip where authorities suggest they may have taken advantage of new bond laws.)

Three people were arrested Tuesday in connection to numerous home burglaries in Nassau County.

Police say the suspects arrested were part of a burglary organization from Chile.

Police arrested Boneek Alexander Quintero-Baeza, 32, Alexandra Ivonne Pizarro-Blanche, 23, and Levy Frank Maury Brugman, 23, at a residence in College Point, Queens. Police say all three are from Chile and were taken into custody after authorities received tips about a burglary in Hewlett Harbor.

According to police, Quintero-Baeza broke into the Hewlett Harbor home in September and stole $25,000 in cash, designer bags and jewelry. Quintero-Baeza and Brugman also committed a burglary in New Jersey and had been released without bond.  [Imagine that, an arrest of foreign nationals for burglary and they were released!—ed]

Prosecutors said in court that Quintero-Baeza has a long criminal record of burglaries in Spain and Argentina. [And, we let him in!—ed]

[….]

Authorities say they recovered jewelry, hand bags, electronic devices and clothing believed to have been taken from homes. Police say multiple identifications were recovered and are believed to be aliases for the defendants allowing them to operate within the United States.

Police say a fourth suspect, Bryan Maldonado, is still at large. Police believe Maldonado is the ring leader and say he is also from Chile.

Nassau police believe the Chileans may be part of a larger criminal operation that stretches across the U.S. They say detectives are now working with federal authorities.

Pennsylvania Police: African American Vietnam Vet Run Over and Killed by Drunk Mexican

This is a story I missed last week.

You know the Left loves to tell their ‘stories’ to play on your emotions, well this one should play on ours and needs to be widely shared.

Samuel Jackson (right) survived Vietnam only to die on his own PA street. This is a news story and photo you won’t see on CNN! Can you imagine what an uproar there would be if the alleged killer was a Trump supporter!  Cable news might have had to interrupt their impeachment extravaganza!

From Breitbart:

Illegal Alien Allegedly Killed Vietnam Veteran Day Before Veterans Day

An illegal alien living in Pennsylvania is accused of killing a Vietnam War Veteran the day before Veterans Day, according to law enforcement officials.

Nemias Perez Severiano, a 31-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, is accused of killing Samuel Jackson, a disabled 69-year-old who served as a Marine in the Vietnam War, the day before Veterans Day this year in Norristown, Pennsylvania, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

On November 10, police said Severiano was driving drunk when he hit and killed Jackson before fleeing the scene of the accident. According to court records obtained by CBS Philly, the illegal alien had been drinking for five hours at a nearby bar before the fatal crash.

“While at the bar [Severiano] indicated he consumed seven to eight Modelo beers,” the arrest records stated. “[Severiano] informed the detectives that when he left the bar, he was ‘a little drunk.’”

Jackson’s sister, Peggy Jackson, said her brother “loved the Marines” and was “so proud to have served his country.”

“It was basically his day, it’s what he fought for,” Jayden Guidici, Jackson’s grandson, told ABC 6 News of his grandfather’s love of Veterans Day.

[….]

As Breitbart News reported, Marine Corp Veteran Richard Dunn donated his uniform to Jackson so he could be buried in uniform.

Seattle: Vietnamese Legal Immigrant Murdered by Mexican Illegal with Long Criminal Record

This is one more story that you probably haven’t seen if you live outside of the state where the crime occurred.

Why? It doesn’t fit the national media mob’s view of the world.  It is one thing when an illegal alien kills white Americans (ho hum), but heck they sure don’t want to talk about how illegals are killing ‘new American’ people of color.

From local Q13 Fox News (hat tip: Robert):

ICE: Man accused of murdering Seattle father is in US illegally, has long criminal history

Sam Nang Lam, 56, was sleeping on the living room couch when bullets started flying early Nov. 3, killing the father of five.

King County sanctuary policies are directly responsible for the death of Sam Nang Lam

Seattle police said 25-year-old Julio Cruz-Velazquez was arrested in SeaTac on Nov. 7. He was taken into custody after a traffic stop with assistance from Tukwila Police.

Cruz-Velazquez is charged with first-degree murder. Bail was set at $2 million.

According to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Cruz-Velazquez has a significant criminal history dating back as far as 2000. The charges included rape, domestic violence, burglary, DUI, malicious mischief, failure to comply and assault.

ICE officials say sanctuary policies, like in King County, block the agency’s ability to do its job.

A press release from ICE gives us a shocking list of the crimes committed by Mexican Julio Cesar Cruz-Velazquez.  After each one, the Seattle police let him go free.

Julio Cruz-Velazquez has the aforementioned significant criminal history:

On Feb. 3, 2000, Cruz-Velazquez was encountered by Border Patrol and voluntarily returned to Mexico the following day. He reentered the United States illegally at an unknown location on an unknown date, without inspection.

Cruz-Velazquez was arrested three times from 2010-2012 by the Seattle Police Department on local charges including robbery and manufacturing and possessing a controlled substance. On all three occasions he was released prior to ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On June 7, 2012, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. He was subsequently released on an unknown date, prior to ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On Aug. 10, 2015, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested for failure to comply by the Seattle Police Department. He was released, yet again, without ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On Nov. 16, 2015, Cruz-Velazquez was convicted of vehicle prowling and sentenced to 364 days in jail and 12 months community service. Cruz-Velazquez was later released on an unknown date.

On July 27, 2016, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with burglary and malicious mischief. He was released, yet again, without ICE having time to lodge a detainer.

On July 7, 2018, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Tukwila Police Department and charged with rape and domestic violence.

On July 9, 2018, ICE lodged a detainer with the King County Jail. The detainer was not honored and the King County Jail released him on an unknown date without notifying ICE.

On Jan. 4, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Tukwila Police Department and charged with failure to comply and driving under the influence.

On Jan. 7, 2019, ICE lodged a detainer with the King County Jail. The detainer was not honored and the King County Jail released him on an unknown date without notifying ICE.

On April 4, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was convicted of assault II-domestic violence.

On July 10, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was booked into the Nisqually Jail and charged with a community custody violation. The following day, he was released prior to ICE being able to lodge a detainer.

On Nov. 7, 2019, Cruz-Velazquez was arrested by the Seattle Police Department and charged with homicide. ICE lodged a detainer the same day with King County Jail.

No other way to say it, but King County Sanctuary policies killed Sam Lang Nam.

Brazilian Man Arrested for Bank Fraud, used Dunkin Donuts Gift Cards

I’m continually amazed at the complexity of the scams many foreigners are using to rip-off Americans and America.

Stories similar to this one pass me by every day and I can’t possibly post them all, but ones with a twist, like this one, are interesting and worth reporting.

Rarely are we rewarded with photos of the foreign fraudsters! Estefano Dall Anese Borlotti

In this case Estefano Dall Anese Borlotti, 35, is here illegally and according to one report on his arrest, he used a Brazilian passport to obtain a Florida drivers license—is that possible!

Can a person in the country apparently illegally (he is now being held on an immigration detainer) just willy-nilly get a drivers license?

Here is the bare outline of the scheme that enabled him to steal tens of thousands of dollars from New Hampshire banks.

Secret Service: Brazilian’s bank data scheme hits Seacoast ATMs

PORTSMOUTH — A Secret Service agent’s affidavit alleges a Brazilian man, with unnamed accomplices, were able to transfer stolen bank data onto Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards they used to withdraw more than $100,000 from bank ATMs in Manchester, Barrington, Dover, Durham and Portsmouth.

The affidavit was filed with the U.S. District Court of New Hampshire by Special Agent Timothy Benitez on Oct. 24, leading to a warrant for the arrest of Estefano Dall Anese Borlotti, 35.

Miami, Florida, police records show Borlotti was arrested Thursday for unrelated charges alleging he “reincoded” stolen bank data onto credit cards and is being held there on $22,500 bail, as well as an immigration detainer.

[….]

The federal charges in New Hampshire allege Borlotti reincoded bank account information onto Dunkin’ Donuts cards to withdraw cash at Federal Savings Bank locations in Barrington, Dover, Durham, Portsmouth and Rochester at different times in April and May.

[….]

The affidavit notes the Dunkin’ Donuts cards contained “a wide variety of both United States and foreign” bank account information and were used to withdraw cash across the Seacoast, as well as in Brazil.

[….]

Miami, Florida, police records report Borlotti is being held there on charges alleging trafficking counterfeit credit cards, organized fraud and two counts of credit card forgery/intent to defraud. He’s also being held on a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, according to court records.

Read the whole story for more details on the scam.

And, see here where we learn about the drivers license:

Officials said Borlotti has a Brazilian passport, which he used to obtain a Florida driver’s license.

Such clever foreign fraudsters among us!
