It is Election Year in Canada and Trudeau Wants More Power to Reject Asylum Seekers

What that means is that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is between a rock and a hard place as he has an immigration problem at his southern border!

Remember when the virtue-signally Trudeau tweeted his pointed message to Donald Trump in January 2017!

As tens of thousands of wannabe refugees go across the US border between points of entry and into Canada, anti-immigrant political hardliners are making the issue a critical one in the upcoming October national election.
Presently, a treaty with the US allows Canadian immigration authorities to turn back asylum seekers to a safe US at points of entry only, but not in between points of entry.
Canada wants to change the treaty in order to turn them all back, but that is tricky for Trudeau who has put out the welcome mat to the world for the first 3 years of his administration.

“…..the government’s proposed changes to the deal would clash with Canada’s image as a country that welcomes asylum seekers.”

Indeed!

Pope Reignites the Wall-is-Immoral Meme on Return from Morocco

Reuters has a story yesterday about the Pope, although not naming Donald Trump by name, speaking critically of any world leader who builds walls to keep out migrants.

vatican wall 2
Now that is a big beautiful wall!

However, it isn’t the first time the socialist Pope voiced his opposition to walls and spoke instead in favor of social justice to solve the ills of the world.
But, what is so galling with his view is the fact that the Vatican has a wall!  The Vatican wall was built to repel Muslim pirates (invaders!) centuries ago!
Never forget that one of the things the pirates were after in Europe were white slaves!

Virginia: Salvadoran 'Dreamer' Sentenced to Life in Prison for Rape/Murder of Muslim Teen

Nabra-illegal-640x480
17-year-old Nabra Hassanen was murdered by a Salvadoran new American.

You might remember the story from June 2017, when a Muslim teen was beaten to death and the local Muslim community and its media mouthpieces were absolutely sure her death was the result of rampant Islamophobia, but as I said here at the time:

…there is no Islamophobic Rightwing redneck American to blame here.

Just a run of the mill case of an illegal alien animal free to roam America thanks to our failed immigration system—our failure to close the border, then and now!

Local Refugee Offices Closing as Trump Administration Keeps Refugee Numbers Low

Of course there isn’t much to cheer about as you know tens of thousands of migrants are streaming across our southern border, most claiming they are refugees seeking asylum.

Migrants streaming to America
Refugee admission numbers pale in comparison to the numbers coming across our border and claiming refugee status.

The flow that has definitely slowed is the US Refugee Admissions Program refugees that are selected initially by the United Nations, followed by US State Department approval and resettlement by one of nine federal resettlement contractors who distribute them to most states. (One of many posts on the contractors at RRW is here.)
The work of the contractors is almost completely funded by you.
Office closures reported this week are the result of the federal slowdown in admissions (slowdown in money to the contractors) and because these resettlement offices could not find enough local financial support to keep their doors open, a fact that demonstrates one vital point:

There is not enough support by the public generally for refugee resettlement!

Before I get to the two office closures I heard about this week, one in Ohio, the other in Virginia, here is a bit of information about where we are at the 6-month-mark for FY19.
(Fiscal year 2019 runs from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.)

Alert: Kenya to Close One of the Largest Refugee Camps in the World

That would be Dadaab—home to hundreds of thousands of Somalis and a place where the US government has gone to select Somalis to bring to America.

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar spent a few years here before being placed in Minnesota

Although, under President Trump very few Somalis are getting into the US these days, this is a story worth watching because you know that the United Nations will be pressuring our State Department to up the Somali numbers using the closing of a significant camp as the excuse.
If Trump doesn’t win reelection in 2020 the trickle could be a flood from Dadaab to your town.
The Kenyan government has long maintained that the camp is a breeding ground for Islamic extremists and it points to recent terror attacks in Kenya linked to Dadaab residents.
