Jihad? Saudi National Goes on Murder Spree at Florida Naval Base

Surely you’ve seen the news, but what interested me most this morning is that the usual major news sources, even Fox News, have very few details.  So, why is it that we have to go to the UK Daily Mail (again!) to get more.

And, I want to know who the victims are!  Some of our finest young men and women?

Six Saudis are arrested over Pensacola naval base shooting including three who FILMED the attack by countryman who killed three and wounded eight before being shot dead – as FBI probes terror link

The Daily Mail generally includes a very handy list of bullet points like these!

~Shooting took place on base early Friday morning, sparking a lockdown

~Sources identified the suspected gunman as Saudi Air Force aviation student Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani

~As of Friday evening, six Saudi nationals have been detained for questioning
It’s reported that three of them filmed the shooting as it happened

~Rep Matt Gaetz, a Republican representing Pensacola, called the shooting ‘an act of terrorism’

~President Trump tweeted that King Salman told him ‘the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter…’

~Three other people were shot and killed during incident inside classroom building on base

Read the whole story, but here are a few additional snips, plus a photo the Daily Mail says is the shooter.

In recent weeks, 18 naval aviators and two aircrew members from the Royal Saudi Naval Forces were training with the US Navy, including at Pensacola, according to a November 15 press release from the Navy. It was not clear if the suspected shooter was part of that delegation.

The delegation came under a Navy program that offers training to US allies, known as the Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity.

A person familiar with the program said that Saudi Air Force officers selected for military training in the United States are intensely vetted by both countries.  [We are so stupid, they are skilled liars!—ed]

Amazing how we didn’t learn anything from 911.  We don’t need to invite any Saudis to America, let alone to train them to fly.

And, for goodness sake, this attack happened on a Navy base, but it required local police to take out the shooter.  Why aren’t there armed Navy men and women protecting the base? (While dreadful people like Mohammed obviously carry guns on base!)

  1. US Military training of foreign nationals has been going on for many, many years. While there is a risk, as shown in this episode, we also have Americans doing insane acts. Just look at the Pearl Harbor incident a couple of days before this one.

This incident is the exception and not the rule. If it were, I’m sure our military would suspend all training of foreign nationals, until an extensive review of these programs can be conducted.

All US Military bases have very well trained law enforcement, including the Pensacola NAS. They have both Naval “Master at Arms” and Navy Police. These elements work closely with local law enforcement, because the threats against the base can come from the outside. Usually, local police have unfettered access to the core portion of the base. In this situation the county sheriff had units in the immediate base area. They responded quickly to the base and were probably familiar with the layout of the facility.

If it was a couple of deputies who got there first, so be it. Just as long as the shooter was neutralized as soon as possible. I’m sure the Naval law enforcement were on scene very quickly, as well.

Although we Americans don’t read or hear about it, countries such as Saudi Arabia share patrol duties in the middle east, along side our military. Most, if not all ,of their pilots have received some American training in such activities as conducting maritime patrols, tracking submarines and surface vessels of nations which don’t hold America in high regard.

The part about other Saudis being present at the scene of the shooting and filming troubles me a great deal. Sounds like this batch were a bad lot and that certainly will call for an in depth investigation.

We need to be thankful as Americans that our military are considered the best in the world and that is why we train other countries. Think of the risks our military face every single hour of the day conducting training and operations alongside the Afghan and Iraqi military in their countries.

While this incident is tragic and we have suffered losses, we can’t shirk from our duty as world leaders.

  2. Neocon Fox&Friends is acting like we’ve been training thousands of Saudi Pilots in Florida for 50 years. These used to be peaceful moslems. They must be trying to rule out workplace violence or something.

  3. 35,000 acts of terror across 65 countries just since 9-11. When will American officials, and virtue signaling fools of the left, admit this supremacist ideology is wholly incompatible with our West?

    1. The world is changing, and one is the existential threat to the American culture, Constitution, and values that our woefully ignorant elected leaders have actually invited into our precious but fragile republic. Islam is a diabolical cult wanting to dominate the world.

  4. [We are so stupid, they are skilled liars!—ed]- maybe, yet I suspect that the quote’s “skilled liars” are not some alien jihadis. Those liars are the Beltway bureaucrats allowed again and again to sharpen their lying skills by their total immunity from any accountability.

  5. They have no business in our country being trained. Send them back to Saudi Arabia.

  6. Guess used local police so our service members not get the blame for killing terrorists???
